Teacher quality improves when
teachers recognize their own expertise
and feel comfortable in offering it,
while also being open to accepting the
advice and feedback of others.

ideas would have been easy under
the old setup where teachers
attend school on-site and attend
classes face-to-face.

There are many ways to collaborate with other teachers that
ensure the outcomes are desirable for the teachers involved as
well as the students.

* seek professional learning opportunities to share and gain
expertise in evidence-based teaching practices
* regularly dedicate time throughout the school year for working
with colleagues to plan, develop and refine teaching and learning
programs
* work in partnership with colleagues to achieve shared
collaboration goals.

8. Examples of teacher collaboration
In collaboration, teachers can, for example, share knowledge,
critically reflect on teaching practices, provide
collegial support or peer feedback, and collectively
design teaching methods. (Kelchtermans, 2006; Vangrieken,
Dochy, Raes, & Kyndt, 2015).

The benefits of collaborative learning include:
Development of higher-level thinking, oral
communication, self-management, and leadership skills.
Promotion of student-faculty interaction. Increase in
student retention, self-esteem, and responsibility.

Because when we work together, we create a better
learning experience. Teacher collaboration positively
impacts student achievement, and allows us as
educators to explore new territory.
