1. Who would be the audience of our media product?
Empire magazine has had the opportunity to
review a new thriller horror titled “Apparition”.
Apparition is set within modern day society in
the city of Cambridge, eastern England where
the story begins within a cemetery where we
are introduced to our first character. The
camera angles used when we meet this
character are some what different to some
other thrillers as we see him being appearing
behind a tree where he appears suddenly
giving you guys a shock reaction. Very
cleverly they use the thriller convention of
mystery of identity throughout our first
encounter with this character. With the use of
camera shots such as close ups on areas of
the body and other objects kept this
character’s identity unknown which creates an
unsettled environment as you would usually
be introduced to a face. Throughout this
scene we carry on and watch this character
mourning over a grave as he places flowers
down. Later on towards the end of this current scene we see the man disappear into thin air
where the audience is given the idea that this character may not be what I may think with his
unusual entrance and exit within the scene. Another area of the beginning of the film is the
home scene. Within the film a teenager has returned home from what looks like school but as
he is taking off his bag he hears a loud bang which is led to be believed that someone has
entered the home. This title has also used another typical thriller convention where
extraordinary events occur in ordinary circumstances which are the loud noise within the home.
This is again followed up by another extraordinary event where the teenager investigates a
bedroom to see if he could find the source of the noise but when he exits we see the character
from the first scene.

2. For my product I believe that Empire film magazine would the most likely magazine where I
would find a review of my film. Firstly Empire magazine is a large media reviewing magazine
which looks at many different film titles and within them a wide range of film genres. The
reason I would expect to see a review would be the magazine’s target audience which is from
teenagers to adults which provides content which would be suited to this market and why I
believe that Apparition would appear here is that we have rated it a 15 certificate. Another
reason for why I would think this magazine would have our film featured is that the type of genre
we have made our film (thriller, horror) would be reviewed by this magazine as for the example i
have on the page above is the article cover of The Dark Knight which is classed as a fictional
action thriller. Due to the similarity in genres I would presume to see Apparition within Empire
magazine.
