•TheUnitedNationsPopulationFund(UNFPA)forColombiadescribesthedemographictransition,wherepeople≥60yearsoldarereachedaround10%ofthetotalofpopulationin2012withanevidentageingofthepopulationinsomeofthemostimportantcitiesinColombia. 
•PrincipaldifficultiesforolderpeopleinColombia: 
•lowereducationallevelandilliteracy(mostofthemarefromruralcontexts). 
•lowproportionofpeoplehavingpension, 
•fewjobopportunitiesforolderadults, 
•highlevelsofpovertyamongthepopulation,

Preliminaryvalidation 
•Some validation procedures were performed with real patients of the old people's home since December 2013. 
•Maingoalsoftheseproceduresweretoevaluatetheinteractionleveloftheolderadultswiththesoftware,andtheadjustmentoftheprototypeaccordingwiththeissuesreportedbyolderadults,carersandfamilyinvolved.

Conclusions 
•Particular conditions of older adults in Colombia reflects a complex scenario where any technological support must offer the greatest degree of ease as possible, due mainly to the gap between final users of older population and technology solutions. 
•In this work we have reported the implementation and preliminary validation of a Telecareprototype application for a real old people's home in Colombia. 
•We use principles from HCI and User-centered design to implement a software solution with a high interaction level for older adults
