When the keeper returned, she said: “ What's that, she has never done so before ! “ The animal danced loudly meowing around my legs. It was months in that shelter and had given up herself. Nobody wanted her. Why? Bad health, much too old [7], smelly, felted skin. The owners wanted to put the cat down but the vet didn’t do so. Therefore they gave her away to that shelter, asking again to put her down.... And so she waited - for me ...?. It took years to gain her trust. MollyPolly was a neglected and mistreated cat that was given up to an animal shelter at 7 years old in poor health and with a matted coat. No one wanted to adopt her and she had given up hope of ever finding an owner. When the author visited the shelter and paid attention to MollyPolly, it was the first time anyone had shown her kindness in months. Despite her past treatment, it took years for MollyPolly to learn to trust the author, but eventually she found a caring home.
