ABSTRACT
Background
In the present day life nobody is much bothered about the health hazards caused due to the
improper use of sense faculties. Our present life style induces our sense faculties to make
sensory perceptions in a wrong way i.e. Mithyayoga. Excess use of the sense organs (Atiyoga)
also will cause health problems. Sounds can be harmful when they are too loud, even for a brief
time, or when they are both loud and long-lasting. These sounds can damage sensitive
structures in the inner ear and cause noise- induced hearing loss (NIHL).
Methods
A bi-stage interventional study involving 120 participants was conducted to explore the
concept and practical applicability of astmyendriyartha Samyoga of Srotrendriya along with
evaluatation of effect of meditation and technical alterations in Asatmyendriyartha samyoga
w.s.r to noise induced hearing loss(NIHL).
Results
On the basis of conceptual analysis and interventions, it was infered that the Atiyoga and
Mithyayoga of Shravanendriya is the main cause for the manifestation of NIHL in the
individuals.
Conclusion
From the study it can be concluded that NIHL can be controlled using Meditation and usage of
Noise cancellation tools which helps to the hearing ability to an extent.
Keywords
Ayurveda, Noise induced hearing loss, audiometric analysis, meditation
