1. Table Tennis Tournament - Jumeira Baccalaureate School
Zeyad Abbasi, a student in Grade 10 organised a Table Tennis Tournament on Saturday November 9th.
All proceeds went to The Gulf International Cancer Center. This is a great initiative and it indeed was a
very successful event.
"I've began working on this project since the end of the last school year and continued throughout the
summer. Finally, after months of hard work researching and planning, .this event went live and was a
real success!!
I chose Cancer Relief because 3 of my relatives had suffered from cancer and 2 of my cousins were
deceased from the illness. I chose the Gulf International Cancer Center because it’s the first of its kind in
the Gulf and my relatives had to travel far off distances to receive their medical treatment that is why I
chose the cancer center and this topic so dear to my heart.
I chose table tennis because it’s my fa ily’s passion and also, it’s something that most people can enjoy,
no matter if they are athletes or not.

2. This activity was difficult to initiate: lots of communication; research and also determination was key,
however, I believe that if you work hard, something great will definitely come out of it.
On 9th of November, the event was finally completed! It was amazing- people enjoyed themselves – and
even Ms.Nahid the representative of the cancer center was present!
By the end of the day the tournament had 3 winners Issa Kapadia at 1st Place, Akabom Ekepenyon at
2nd and at 3rd Zeyad Elsayed, but this was ’t the greatest achievement: the greatest achievement was
that in the end we had collected over 7100AED!!
Thank you to all the teachers, parents and students who helped, not only to support this event, but also
for helping me to achieve my goal and most importantly- save lives."
