V. Course Description:
This course deals with the concepts and principles of genetics and its application to aquaculture and fisheries. This will
also encompass the branches of genetics with emphasis on molecular genetics. Further, breeding of common aquaculture
species will be tackled.

I. Goals of the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences:
The College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences as an integral part of the Iloilo State College of Fisheries is entrusted to develop and
manage land and water resources for fishery use, promote research, extension works and advanced studies in integrated fisheries;and to
develop appreciation of human values and cultural heritage through entrepreneurial activities and related opportunities.

1. Globally competitive graduates in the areas of sustainable aquaculture, responsible capture fisheries, post-harvest fisheries and
aquatic resources and ecology.

4. Professionals with knowledge, skills and positive attitudes in fisheries research, resource management, instruction, extension,
production, and marketing.
III. Program Outcomes of Bachelor of Science in Fisheries (PO):
Based on CMO No 33 s.2021 Policies, Standards and Guidelines for Bachelor of Science in Fisheries Curriculum. At the end of the
course, the students will be able to:
a. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the field of fisheries.
b. Formulate and implement agricultural development plans and programs.
c. Generate and share knowledge relevant to fisheries.
d. Develop, operate, and manage aquaculture production systems.
e. Utilize fisheries resources using innovative fishing methods, which are responsible and sustainable.
f. Manage and protect the integrity and quality of aquatic ecosystems and resources
g. Apply post-harvest practices that are compliant to international for food safety and quality; and
h. Partake in the regional and national fisheries development and policy

IX. Classroom Policies
1. Student shall always observe the laws of the land and the rules and regulations of the college
2. Any form of cheating during examinations or act of dishonesty, non-wearing of ID and uniform, carrying of deadly weapon, drinking of
alcoholic beverages, illegal possession discourtesy, violence or damage to proper, practice of deception, false statements, smoking,
gambling, wearing of tattoo, colored hair, improper haircut, PDA shall be grounded for disciplinary action.
3. Excuse slips on absences should be presented to the teachers following the date when the student return to school. If the student is
must present medical certificate duly signed by the college Physician, to be excuse from his absences for more than 3 days. A student
who is absent from his class for 20 hours of the total class hours shall be dropped in the school. If the student incurs more than 60 %
unexcused absences, he/ she will be given a grade of 5.00 (NC).
