• Provides free repair and renovation programs for low-income,
  elderly and disabled San Franciscans and for nonprofit and
  community facilities
• Addresses basic living, life event and quality of life needs.
• Creates safer environments and makes it possible for people to live
  independently for a longer time in their own homes.
• With the support and involvement of businesses and individuals,
  Rebuilding Together sets in motion a cycle of renewal, community-
  building and civic engagement.

Oakes Children’s Center is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
agency helping emotionally disturbed and developmentally delayed
children develop the independence and self-awareness necessary to
live and continue learning in the least restrictive setting possible
within their local community.

OAKES CHILDREN’S CENTER- Garden Project

PROGRAM
Agenda: Revive the existing garden space for the students, staff and
   administration to fully utilize for education, enjoyment and
   relaxation.
• Budget: $500
Program   •   Furniture
               – Clean and paint or stain w/ No VOC product
               – Repair existing benches that need work: cinder blocks
               – Determine placement of furniture
                     • 4 – 5’x5’ tables
                     • 6 – 12”x7’ benches
          •   Soil
               – Remove all weeds, etc.
               – Plant Existing/Donates Jade plants into the soil
               – Use Native Plants to fill in empty space around the
                   perimeter of site
               – Source Native plants to add: grasses, sunflowers, etc.
                   for Permaculture Area
               – Use low maintenance vegetation
               – Provide mulch as a top layer of soil
               – Provide Appropriate Fertilizer for plants & soil
Program   •   Materials
               – Keep existing pavers
                    • Secure around the ridge w/ a 2x4 frame
                    • Remove the wooden block at the top of the stair
                       (trip hazard)
                    • Make sure pavers are very secure and cannot be
                       easily picked up by the children
               – Add Stepping Stone Pavers in front of Cinder Block
                  Herb Garden
          •   Design
               – Cinder Block Garden Wall to be used by the Children
                  for planting & using
                    • Herbs, basil, mint, etc. (anything that can be
                       taken home by the kids)
               – Keep in mind a location for the Children’s Bird House
                  on Site
          •   Other
               – Existing water pipeline on site
               – Design the area to be as low maintenance as possible
