Surviving Syria – One Sheet
- 1. Surviving Syria – One Sheet
We see Jacob Dax going through Seal training juxtaposed with his twin being
beheaded by Murtaza on the internet.
Four years later, Jacob and his Seal team save Senator Jones on a rescue mission.
They bring him back to their base in Turkey and gain notoriety from it.
They get their next mission and it’s saving Ismail, a young Kurdish Prince. He’s been
kidnapped by his half brother – Murtaza. Jacob could care less about the kid, he
wants Murtaza dead. Jacob’s got a prejudice against everything in the Middle East.
Jacob wants to go, but they won’t let him. He gets his replacement sick in order to go
on the mission.
The mission begins as planned, they extract Ismail, but Murtaza strands them in
Syria. One of the team gets shot and the Seals miss out on their support, due to
Murtaza convincing the Internet he’s killed them. Ismail nearly gets Jacob killed.
Murtaza surrounds them in an abandoned town, but the Seals survive it. They lose
their sergeant, making Jacob the lead. They think Murtaza is dead, but he escapes.
With Ismail’s help, the Seals find a cache of supplies. Jacob and Ismail start to bond
over a shared interest in soccer. Jacob starts to understand Ismail’s perspective.
Murtaza makes it back to his ISIS base. He’s berated by his Uncle for failing, but ends
up killing him and takes a huge host to hunt down the Seals.
The Seals barely sneak through and ISIS controlled town, and head for a friendly
Kurdish fort. A misunderstanding causes the Seals to lose their vehicle, stranding
them. Murtaza finds out they’re at the fort and moves his host in that direction.
Jacob convinces the rest of his squad to stay and fight. He’s the last person you’d
expect to stand with anyone from the Middle East, but Ismail’s helped him with
perspective.
It’s revealed Senator Jones set up Seal Team Spartan and paid Murtaza. He tried to
get the US into full-scale war, but is found out and imprisoned.
The battle at the Kurdish fort is brutal and ugly. At the end, Jacob gets a chance to
kill Murtaza, but doesn’t. He’s taken revenge without taking a life.
They take Murtaza back to Turkey and receive hero’s welcome. It doesn’t last long
when Jacob and the Seals are informed they’ll have to go into witness protection.
Their identities were exposed on the web. Jacob and Ismail share a tearful goodbye.
