This survey analyzed viewers' preferences for soap operas. Most respondents were between ages 18-24 and preferred the younger casts of shows like "Eastenders" and "Hollyoaks" that portrayed more relatable modern issues. All participants believed soap operas appealed more to female audiences. Most viewers preferred soap operas that focused on social issues and characters they could relate to. The majority watched once a week, suggesting they enjoyed anticipating the next episode. Given the female target audience, characters and storylines should feature strong female roles. Drama was found to be the most engaging aspect that kept viewers interested.

Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

most popular soap opera’s for viewers between the ages of 18
and 24. This is most probably due to the cast members being
relatively young and appealing to modern viewers. Because of
this, the issues presented would be more relatable to a younger
audience.
5. All participants of my survey believe that female viewers are
associated with watching soap operas. This connotes that the TV
genre focuses on issues that appeal to a female audience.
6. This graph connotes that more viewers prefer for soap
operas to focus their narrative on social issues for
entertainment and the ability to relate to the
character’s problems and issues.
7. These results signify that the majority of people
watch soap opera’s just once a week. The
connotations of this suggest that people prefer
the wait between episodes and therefore can look
forward to the following episode.
8. The connotations of these results mean that due to the
target audience being women, there should be a female
dominance in the programme when it comes to casting
or character superiority in situations.
9. Soap operas stereotypically involve a lot of
drama and that is the feature that keeps the
interest of current viewers and possibly is the
aspect that grabs potential viewers.
10. Results analysis
• From these results, it is evident that my target audience is
that of young adults 18-24 who prefer to watch soap opera’s
with characters of similar age. Because of this, I will make sure
to create a narrative that will appeal to this audience. 83.33%
of individual’s who were questioned enjoyed the drama
aspect of their soap operas. Conventionally, the purpose of
soap operas is create drama from over the top situations. Due
to this I will make sure the decided narrative mainly focuses
on creating a dramatic effect on the audience,
