Maurice Shahbaz founded the Prisons Mission Society of Pakistan after spending 12 years unjustly imprisoned from age 13 to 25. During his imprisonment, he completed his education from matriculation to B.A. and diplomas in Urdu and Punjabi. The society aims to help prisoners through education, health, legal, and rehabilitation departments. It provides academic and religious education to 300 prisoners annually and health seminars on diseases. The society coordinates with 170 teachers to help prisoners and their families throughout imprisonment and after release. However, Christian prisoners face persecution and denial of religious freedom compared to other faiths in Pakistani prisons.

9. EQUAL RIGHTS FOR PRISONERS
The right to non-discriminatory treatment (freedom from
discrimination on the basis of characteristics such as race,
sex, color, etc.). but The Christian community inside the
prisons of The Punjab in Pakistan are being persecuted
and denied the same religious freedom as other religions.
The missionaries/Pastors /Teachers have increasingly
stopped access to the prisoners, while Muslim religious
teachers (including the Muslim religious teaches of jail's
staff) can preach and teach with no limits and Christian
prisoners have not chance to improve the education and
under trial prisoners are forced to labor of sweeping and
illegal transfer to other jails on bogus administrative
grounds and torture. The most of the prisoners are put
into torture cells on the bogus administrative grounds
under rule 153 of Pakistan Prisons Rule 1978 and they
bear torture with fitters for many years. M A U R I C E S H A H B A Z 9
