Another fundamental reading in Hadith. Feel free to choose between both this book and the Nukhbatul Fikar, but I am of the view that the Nukhbatul Fikar is more suited for the Hadith class.

This document discusses the unique generation of early Muslims known as the Companions of the Prophet. It argues that they achieved a level of excellence not seen before or since because they solely followed the teachings of the Quran and hadith without influence from other sources of knowledge or cultures. Later generations mixed Islamic teachings with other influences like Greek philosophy and Jewish scripture, which diluted the purity and impact of the original message. The key was that the Companions approached the Quran not just for knowledge but to immediately implement its teachings in life, which opened doors to spiritual fulfillment and a dynamic faith in action.
1. The Qur'an is the primary source of Islamic principles that constitute the way of life in Islam. It contains guidance in the form of laws, stories, and arguments for those who believe in God and the Day of Judgment.
2. However, comprehending the meanings of the Qur'an varies between individuals due to differences in intelligence, and some passages are general while others were specifically explained by the Prophet Muhammad.
3. The Prophet Muhammad understood the Qur'an completely because God chose him to receive and explain it. It was the Prophet's role to explain the Qur'an to his followers through both his words and actions.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
