This document outlines a research project on liquid democracy. It begins with an introduction to liquid democracy and lists some key websites where it has been implemented. The conceptual framework section notes differing definitions of liquid democracy and proposes a double continuum model. Three main research questions are presented: 1) How liquid democracy is conceptualized by two German organizations and realized in software. 2) The motivations and roles of developers. 3) Potential effects on political actors and institutions. The methodology will involve interviews and analysis of documentation to explore these questions in a grounded theory approach.

This document discusses the use of electronic participation (e-participation) for local governments. It outlines several criteria for evaluating e-participation initiatives, including the level and stage of citizen participation, skills and resources required, contextual factors, accessibility, usability, and transparency. While e-participation can build on experiences from traditional in-person participation, it also presents new challenges around technical design, online communication patterns, and scaling participation across different levels of government from local to global. The document raises questions about how information and communication technologies can actually support democratic decision-making at the local level.
The document discusses open government data (OGD) in Kenya. It analyzes Kenya's OGD using the Open Data Index and Open Data Barometer, which both indicate a gap between Kenya's readiness for OGD and its actual impact. While Kenya has the basic requirements for OGD like data, technology platforms, and demand, widespread uptake and use of OGD is limited, possibly due to socioeconomic factors and lack of an open government. Successful OGD requires collaboration between government, civil society, and private sector, with an open government best supporting OGD.
The document discusses the right to information as a matter of public sovereignty. It argues that popular sovereignty principles should target public administration as an information system designed with citizens as its ultimate information clients. The conclusion is that the public administration system needs to be conceived, designed, and developed for citizens rather than the government in order to truly accept contemporary political systems as democracies.
This document discusses the economic benefits of open government data. It finds that open government data has the potential to generate significant economic value by enabling new applications and private sector innovations. Specifically:
- The EU study estimated the potential annual value of open government data for the EU is €30-40 billion, and derived estimates for individual EU countries ranging from millions to billions annually.
- Case studies found actual economic benefits already realized, such as a 5% increase in sales for an Austrian company and over €500 million annually generated by the Spanish information sector through public data reuse.
- Open data was found to save public and private costs, for example over €5,000 saved per app developed using open data in Austria
This document proposes a model for e-governance in Bangladesh using social networks to strengthen democracy. It suggests creating a social network similar to Facebook where government ministries and departments create pages to share information about activities and projects. Citizens would create profiles to discuss issues, and elected officials would have special profiles listing background and finances. A survey found Bangladeshis would find such a network helpful to connect with government and discuss national issues. Challenges include ensuring public involvement, transparency, financial support, and technical/security support.

I see so many profiles across the social media domains that have huge followings and audiences, but when I have dug a little deeper and analysed the followings, I have noticed the majority are built up with random, meaningless audiences that have no bearing on the account.

On Storytelling & Magic Realism in Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children, Shame, and ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: Salman Rushdie’s novels are humorous books about serious times. His cosmopolitanism and
hybrid identity allowed him access to multiple cultures, religions, languages, dialects, and various modes of
writing. His style is often classified as magic realism, blending the imaginary with the real. He draws
inspiration from both English literature and Indian classical sources. Throughout his works, there is a lineage of
‘bastards of history’, a carnival of shameful characters scrolling all along his works. Rushdie intertwines fiction
with reality, incorporating intertextual references to Western literature in his texts, and frequently employing
mythology to explore history. This paper focuses on Rushdie’s three novels: Midnight’s Children, Shame, and
Haroun and the Sea of Stories, analyzing his postmodern storytelling techniques that aim to explore human
vices and follies while offering socio-political criticism.

30 Best Social Media Monitoring Tools For Business
There is little doubt that social media has played a large role in helping to shape businesses around the world.
However, it takes more than just having a presence on various social media sites to have an impact. You must
understand just who are reaching and how your business is being perceived, and various social media monitoring
tools can be used to fulfil these objectives.
Why Monitoring Tools Are Essential To Your Business
Too many businesses fail when it comes to using social media because they do not understand everything that it
entails. This is because they participate in just reaching out, like with traditional media. Instead, they should be
interacting, actively participating and building relationships with their customer base.
In a nut shell, they’re not using social media monitoring tools to listen to the online environment and react
accordingly.
Social media monitoring tools are needed to find out what’s happening in your online spaces as well as your
industry. Social media monitoring tools can also be used to gauge how well your efforts are performing – it can be
quite difficult to fully understand the effectiveness of your efforts on social media just by looking at the customer
subscriptions and responses.
Using a mixture of different social media monitoring tools will help you to fully understand everything you need to
know concerning your social media marketing campaigns.
What You Need To Monitor
The first thing about effectively using social media monitoring tools is knowing what you need to keep track of.
What follows are the basics in terms of what areas you should be watching:
2. Your Business
Customers
Competitors
Prospects
Industry
Keywords
Hashtags
Content
By using social media monitoring tools to effectively listen to all of these areas, you can make better informed
decisions about where you can make improvements, spot opportunities and shore up any weaknesses that you
might have in your social media output.
Of course, you will need the right monitoring tools in order to make the best decisions possible…
