- 2. What is the SOCIAL ISSUE style? • This type of documentary has a focus on issues that are important within a community in order to raise awareness. • In our case, we are dealing with the issue of Food Waste Contributed by the Food Industry in our community, Hong Kong.
- 3. How will we do it in this way? • We will interview different people from restaurants and foundations as well as charities. • We will film in these locations. • We will add facts and figures and use evidence to explain the issue and to raise awareness. • We will suggest what can be done to improve the issue and investigate what is being done now.
- 4. What is the EXPOSITORY genre? • Usually non-fiction films • Direct access to audience • Social issues developed into an argumentative frame • Narration voice-over emphasising what is happening with argumentative logic • Can be used to raise awareness
- 5. My intention • Take our social issue and make a documentary in the expository genre • Do this by providing direct access to the audience… we can do this through ‘real footage’ and through interviews from different perspectives • Use narration voice-overs to provide facts and details and to suggest solutions to the issue of Food Waste from the Hong Kong Food Industry
- 6. TO INTERVIEW… • Feeding Hong Kong Representative • Pret a Manger Representative (Since they have a food waste initiative) • Mc Donalds (Because they represent a majority market share in Hong Kong’s fast food scene) • Organic Waste Society
