Synopsis:
This is a thriller trailer about a
family who is new to the
neighbourhood. They get
contacted by the next door
neighbours and are asked to look
after the house and the pets. The
family take no notice and go round
to help out whilst the neighbours
are away. Strange events starts
occurring and one of the children
gets taken when exploring a locked
room in the neighbours house. A
terrible secret gets unearthed
about the neighbours and the
family fight to survive.
Story breakdown part 1:
The first part of the trailer is
going to introduce both the
family and the neighbours.
There will be soft upbeat
music to suggest all is well.
The lighting will be high key
connoting a joyful trailer,
however the beat begins to
go low and slower. This all
builds suspense.
Story breakdown part 2:
The next part of the trailer
will focus on some strange
events that happened to the
family. Such strange events
include swinging chandeliers,
banging noises and
potentially pets dying. This is
when the music starts to pick
up and jump cuts can be
included to build up
suspense.
Story breakdown part 3 :
Then there will be scenes
involving the neighbours to
show the audience that they
are abnormal. Scenes might
include the neighbours faces
appearing in the window or
loud noises. We will
potentially use jump cuts to
cut between a continuous
tracking shot and other parts
of the film that are shocking
and significant.
Story breakdown part 4:
The children start exploring
next door and make some
strange discoveries. Whether
or not they tell their parents
is still undecided, but the
pace will begin to heighten
extremely at this point. The
music will most probably
have a rhythm of a heart
beat to emulate the
seriousness of the scene.
Story breakdown part 5:
The ending will focus on the
parents and remaining child
trying to find the missing
sibling if we decide to make
them lost. This is where we
can use some good close up
shots because it would show
the true emotions of the
character. Again tense music
will be played and there will
be an option for us to involve
the neighbours.
Setting 1:
One of the settings
featured in this trailer
will be the family
house. There will be
scenes of the children
playing here as well as
the strange things that
seem to be happening
around the house like
the light swinging.
Setting 2:
Another setting
featured in this short
trailer will be the
neighbours house. A
lot of low lighting will
be used for this and
creepy music to to
pair, to make the
setting more sinister.
Setting 3:
Another setting we
need to include is the
family garden, this
would be a good scene
to film because the
children would appear
as though they are
simply playing and
nothing is wrong.
Setting 4:
Another setting could
be somewhere sinister
like a grave yard. This
would be interesting to
film because it is
always considered
scary and haunted, so
could make the trailer
more real.
