Big Brothers Big Sisters aims to provide every child who needs one with a mentor through one-to-one adult-child mentoring relationships. After 18 months in the program, Little Brothers and Sisters were less likely to use drugs or alcohol, skip school or class, or engage in violence. Volunteers must be 18 or older and able to commit at least two hours twice a month to positively impact a child through the Community Based Program or one hour a week as a School Based Mentor. There is a particular need for male mentors as over 70% of children waiting are boys.

our mission of creating and supporting one-to-
one, adult-to-child, mentoring relationships to
help guide youth from a position of risk to one
of achieving their highest potential.

After 18 months of spending time with their
Bigs, the Little Brothers and Little
Sisters, compared to those children not in our
program, were:
• 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
• 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
• 52% less likely to skip school
• 37% less likely to skip a class
• 33% less likely to hit someone

4. Logistics
• If you are at least 18 years of age and are planning to stay in the Tucson
area for at least one year, you may be ready for a positive experience with
a Little Brother or Little Sister.
• Volunteers in the Community Based Program spend two or more
hours, two to three times per month with their Little.
• If your time is limited, for only one hour per week, you become a School
Based Mentor.
