1. Statistical Analysis
You will work with a partner to complete this assignment. It is
recommended that one person have excel open on their computer and the
other person pulls up the statistics which you will import to your excel
spreadsheet. But this does not mean one person will work on the excel while
the other watches. You must work together to complete this task.
The website you will be using to gather your information is:
Once you’re on this website you may choose any team that you would like.
From the team you choose you will choose the top 10 hitters listed on their
statistics to enter into your spreadsheet. On the far left hand side you will list
the players name and then create columns for At Bats (AB), Runs (R), Hits
(H), RBIs (Rbi), walks (BB), Strike outs (SO), and Stolen bases (SB). After
you input these categories from the team’s website you will create a column
for totals, you will need to create a formula to calculate the totals so if the
statistics change the totals will automatically change as well.
After you have found the totals you will create 3 more adjacent columns for
average (avg), on base percentage (OBP), and slugging percentage (SLG).
Once you have inputted this information in the totals row instead of adding
them all together you will find the average for the team of each category.
