St. Bernadette was born in France in 1844, had 18 visions of Mary at a grotto between 1858-1879, and died of tuberculosis in 1879. She is the patron saint of sick people and of Lourdes, France where she received messages from Mary to do penance, pray for sinners, and that Mary identified herself as the Immaculate Conception.
