'Homespun Fun - the art of Kahoots' by Honeyslug at Develop 2010Ricky Haggett
The document discusses the homemade art style of the video game Kahoots. The developers moved away from pixel art and instead used plasticine sculptures, found objects from thrift shops, and hand-drawn elements to create a unique aesthetic. Key aspects of the style included stop motion animated plasticine characters, a haphazard collage-like environment built from scanned materials, and an emphasis on imperfect textures and a lack of a coherent theme. This distinctive style was praised for having heart and character, raising the game above conventions and conjuring memories of classic TV shows.
