Math Gap-Minder: Patterns and trends of HIV on the Human PopulationAshutosh Goel
HIV damages the immune system and interferes with the body's ability to fight infections. The document analyzes HIV trends in Qatar and Zimbabwe between 1980 and 2000 using dynamic graphs. It finds that HIV levels in Qatar rose slowly and steadily while levels in Zimbabwe rose dramatically before declining slightly. The stable levels in Qatar are attributed to advanced healthcare and awareness campaigns funded by oil wealth, while Zimbabwe faces challenges controlling HIV due to a weaker economy and less donor funding.
Fractional distillation is a method of separating mixtures with different boiling points. It works by heating a mixture so its components vaporize and rise through a fractional distillation column where they condense at different heights based on their boiling points. This allows the separation of crude oil, chemicals, and alcoholic beverages into their component parts. Current research is exploring improvements to fractional distillation processes.

The document discusses whether supranational alliances are imperialistic in nature. It provides several examples of supranational alliances such as the European Union, United Nations, NATO, and NAFTA to analyze their functions and behaviors. The author argues that these alliances have exhibited imperialistic tendencies such as restricting member states' sovereignty, prioritizing the interests of more powerful members, and exploiting less developed countries for economic gain. While supranational organizations aim to foster cooperation, their pursuit of power and influence often leads them to act in imperialistic ways.
