 The project is run by IDIKA (Electronic
Services Governance for Social Insurance),
whose responsibilities include Central Data
Center, tendering processes, education and
training, and provisioning of specialized
systems including eRx, EHIC, etc
 Targets and Objectives
– Patient Safety and protection
– Information Governance and
Integration
– Rationalization of drugs expenditure
– Economies of scale, transparency
 Originally, IDIKA implemented a basic functionality
e-Prescription System in 2010, to respond to
request from IMF and EC to manage service
expenditure (9500 pharmacies, 4000 physcians,
and 1 social security organization, 8000
prescriptions/day)
 Phase 2 (2012): e-Prescription System expanded to
include all Social Security Funds/Providers and
the total population of actors E diagnosis
consolidation and replatformed for performance,
reliability and security.
 Phase 3 (end of 2013) IDIKA initiated a new
project that involved augmenting system’s
functionality (therapeutically protocols, APIs, ePSOs
integration, interoperability with EOPYY, analytics
and reporting)

Pharmaceutical Track and Trace, Turkey
 The Turkish “Pharmaceutical Track and Trace System” (İTS) defines the
infrastructure constructed to track and trace all units belonging to each
pharmaceutical product in Turkey.
 The serialization providing the uniqueness of the units is ensured by the
DataMatrix code instead of formerly used barcode.
 The ability to track each drug unit is provided by gathering the information of
each unit in every single step and action; and traceability is provided by its
pedigree.
 Targets
– Ensure and guarantee the reliable supply of drugs to patients
– Prevent the sale of counterfeit and smuggled drugs and prevent illegal sale of drugs
– Prevent barcode scams
– Support rational use of medicines, supply data to control market

All rights reserved.13 ePrescribing in Greece  The project is run by IDIKA (Electronic Services Governance for Social Insurance), whose responsibilities include Central Data Center, tendering processes, education and training, and provisioning of specialized systems including eRx, EHIC, etc  Targets and Objectives – Patient Safety and protection – Information Governance and Integration – Rationalization of drugs expenditure – Economies of scale, transparency  Originally, IDIKA implemented a basic functionality e-Prescription System in 2010, to respond to request from IMF and EC to manage service expenditure (9500 pharmacies, 4000 physcians, and 1 social security organization, 8000 prescriptions/day)  Phase 2 (2012): e-Prescription System expanded to include all Social Security Funds/Providers and the total population of actors E diagnosis consolidation and replatformed for performance, reliability and security.  Phase 3 (end of 2013) IDIKA initiated a new project that involved augmenting system’s functionality (therapeutically protocols, APIs, ePSOs integration, interoperability with EOPYY, analytics and reporting)

All rights reserved.16 Pharmaceutical Track and Trace, Turkey  The Turkish “Pharmaceutical Track and Trace System” (İTS) defines the infrastructure constructed to track and trace all units belonging to each pharmaceutical product in Turkey.  The serialization providing the uniqueness of the units is ensured by the DataMatrix code instead of formerly used barcode.  The ability to track each drug unit is provided by gathering the information of each unit in every single step and action; and traceability is provided by its pedigree.  Targets – Ensure and guarantee the reliable supply of drugs to patients – Prevent the sale of counterfeit and smuggled drugs and prevent illegal sale of drugs – Prevent barcode scams – Support rational use of medicines, supply data to control market
