The impact of globalization in the emergence of civil society and identity co...Prakash Bohara
This document discusses the impact of globalization on identity conflict and the emergence of civil society in Nepal. It argues that globalization since the 1950s has contributed to identity conflict at both the macro (state) level and micro (group/individual) level in Nepal. At the macro level, globalization weakened the Rana dynasty and led to the establishment of democracy in 1950, but the monarchy later took power back and established a single party system. Growing awareness and influence from abroad helped spur opposition and a transition back to democracy in 1990. However, conflict continued between the Maoists and the state. At the micro level, globalization increased literacy, media access, and awareness of issues like gender and ethnicity, empowering marginal
The document discusses windows into early marine ecosystems from 600 million years ago preserved in formations like the Doushantuo in South China. It summarizes evidence from different preservation environments (windows) that indicates the earliest animals and algae lived during this period before the Cambrian explosion, including microscopic fossils of possible embryos, algae, and animals with unusual body plans preserved in chert, shale, and phosphorite. These windows provide a glimpse of the diversity of life that may have ignited the Cambrian explosion over 50 million years later.

Neo-geography practices became popular in Japan after the 2011 earthquake when non-experts used geospatial data and maps to share disaster information. While open data and mapping projects increased public participation in neo-geography, traditional geography education in universities remained focused on training professionals and did not incorporate new open source tools and web-based mapping. However, some universities are now offering courses teaching students to use tools like OpenStreetMap for crisis mapping and addressing local issues.
The Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) is holding an enduring challenge competition with £3 million in funding per year to address key defence issues. The competition focuses on 14 challenge areas, including situational awareness, power and energy, cyber defence, data security, and human performance. The challenges involve issues like processing large amounts of data, developing portable secure power sources, and creating synthetic datasets to support training and testing without releasing classified information. The CDE aims to drive innovation in priority technology areas to support UK defense.
Traditional classroom assessment vs Project Basedkirklandlawrence
The document compares traditional classroom assessment methods to project-based assessment. Traditional methods are teacher-centered, involve paper-and-pencil work with strict rules and timelines, and rely on memory, while project-based assessment is student-centered, allows for flexible timelines and group work, and depends on available resources. Grading of traditional methods can be subjective and compromised by absenteeism or cheating, whereas project-based grading uses objective rubrics and allows students to complete work by a due date.
This document proposes that the agency consider using GAP as an in-house TVC production service to reduce costs and increase revenue. Currently, agencies outsource TVC production which involves markups at each stage, reducing profitability. GAP proposes directly producing TVCs using their production expertise and access to directors. This would save the agency 25-30% in costs while maintaining creative quality. GAP has experience producing over 100 projects. By cutting out middlemen, GAP can provide transparent, high quality TVC production at actual cost plus 10% for the agency.
The document outlines range safety procedures and organization for a shooting range. It details four cardinal rules of gun safety: treat every gun as if it's loaded, never point the gun at anything you don't intend to shoot, know your target and what is beyond it, and keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire. It then describes the various personnel and their duties needed to safely operate the range, including the range safety officer, ammunition handlers, medics, and more. Finally, it outlines the safety briefing and inspection procedures to ensure safe firing.

Key elements of data modeling include entities, attributes, relationships, domains, keys, and cardinality. Weak entities differ from strong entities in that weak entities do not have attributes to form a primary key and instead inherit their primary key from the strong entity they are dependent on through an identifying relationship.
