This document discusses the successful summer and school year reading programs at Essex Aggie. It highlights that choice and reading begins in September, not just the summer. Promotion and marketing of reading has been key to success. The program includes independent reading across all grades and classes, not just English. Technology like e-readers are also utilized. Assessment data shows rising circulation statistics over time, indicating the programs are achieving results.
This document discusses the many roles of the librarian in vocational/technical education. It outlines that librarians must be flexible and think outside the box as their patrons are not always traditional library users. The document recommends that librarians define their patron populations of students and teachers, look at circulation statistics, class use, computer labs and more to identify needs. It suggests librarians act as public relations specialists, technology specialists, curriculum specialists and more to engage with patrons face-to-face, provide extended hours and resources, and get the word out about the library.
This document discusses requirements for quality assurance in media organizations. Licensing requirements include having:
1) Clearly defined quality goals and standards for content and programming. These must be documented and communicated to staff.
2) Formal processes to ensure quality goals are met, such as briefings, approvals, and feedback mechanisms.
3) Sufficient training and resources for staff to fulfill programming obligations. Quality assurance helps organizations evaluate performance against standards and identify areas for improvement.

Salba is a combination of the botanical name for sage, Salvia hispanica L., and the Latin word for white, Alba. It was used by Aztecs as an "energy food" and provides nutrients like vitamins, minerals, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids. Salba was selectively bred in Peru starting in the 1990s to produce a predominantly white, highly nutritious seed. It is a superior source of nutrients compared to other seeds like chia and flax due to its optimized growing conditions and composition. Salba benefits health in many ways due to its high levels of nutrients.
The document discusses implementing lean principles in an organization. It begins by outlining the importance of understanding the organization's vision, customers, and value. It then notes that in order to change, the organization must understand how lean principles address core problems like waste and there must be a compelling business case. The document then describes actual conditions in a production tour, noting many areas of waste and inefficiency. It proposes implementing lean in three main areas - people, methods, and infrastructure. A table outlines milestones and tasks for lean culture implementation, including compiling vision, designing a roadmap, creating systems and standard work, implementing metrics, daily management and problem solving, creating flow, and ongoing improvement.

This document summarizes the findings of a study on audience constructions in 10 commercial broadcast stations in Switzerland. The study found that:
1) Most stations did not have a clear conception of their target audience and the conceptions that did exist were vague.
2) While stations used audience research, the findings did not often lead to revised audience conceptions.
3) Program preparation was guided more by economic conceptions of audiences rather than their actual needs.
4) The audience's point of view was not systematically incorporated into editorial feedback and reviews.
