Ο πφργοσ του Άιφελ καταςκευάςτθκε το 1889 από τον
μθχανικό Γουςτάβο Άιφελ και ςιμερα αποτελεί ζνα από
τα γνωςτότερα κτίρια ςτον κόςμο. Με φψοσ 325 μζτρα
(300 χωρίσ τθν κεραία) ιταν το πιο ψθλό κτίριο ςτον
κόςμο μζχρι που το ξεπζραςε το Εμπάιρ Στζιτ τθσ Νζασ
Υόρκθσ το 1931. Ζχει βάροσ 10.100 τόνουσ και θ
καταςκευι του είναι τόςο
ςτακερι ϊςτε παρεκκλίνει μόλισ ζωσ 7,5 εκατοςτά με
ςφοδρό άνεμο. Ζχει τρία
επιςκζψιμα επίπεδα, κακζνα
προςβάςιμο με ςκάλεσ ι με
ανελκυςτιρα. Για τθν άνοδο μζχρι το
πρϊτο επίπεδο χρειάηονται 300
βιματα (το ίδιο και για το δεφτερο). Το
τρίτο και μεγαλφτερο επίπεδο είναι
προςβάςιμο μόνο με τον ανελκυςτιρα.
3. Η Ιςτορία
O πφργοσ του Άιφελ καταςκευάςτθκε για τθν ζκκεςθ
Uneversell και ςαν ςθμάδι τθσ Γαλλικισ Επανάςταςθσ.
Εργάςτθκαν 300 εργάτεσ που ζνωςαν 18.038 κομμάτια
αδιάβροχου ςιδιρου με 2,5 εκατομμφρια πριτςίνια .Ο
κίνδυνοσ ατυχιματοσ ιταν μεγάλοσ κακϊσ, ςε αντίκεςθ με
τουσ ςφγχρονουσ ουρανοξφςτεσ, ο πφργοσ ιταν ςε ανοιχτό
πλαίςιο, χωρίσ κανζναν ενδιάμεςο όροφο εκτόσ από δφο
πλατφόρμεσ. Μόνο ζνασ άνκρωποσ πζκανε. Ο πφργοσ
εγκαινιάςτθκε ςτισ 31 Μαρτίου 1889 και άνοιξε για το κοινό
ςτισ 6 Μαΐου 1889. Ο Άιφελ είχε πάρει άδεια για να ςτακεί
ο πφργοσ επί 20 ζτθ· προοριηόταν για να διαλυκεί το
1909, όταν θ ιδιοκτθςία του κα είχε επανζλκει ςτον Διμο
Παριςιοφ. Η πόλθ είχε προγραμματίςει να τον γκρεμίςει
αλλά επειδι ο πφργοσ αποδείχτθκε χριςιμοσ για ςκοποφσ
επικοινωνίασ, επετράπθ θ παραμονι του και μετά τθ λιξθ
τθσ άδειασ.
