Okinawan U.S.A Base   The Special Action Committee on
                      Okinawa (SACO) is a formal
                      agreement made between the
                      United States Government and
                      the Government of Japan. With
                      the SACO, approximately 21
                      percent of total acreage of the
                      US facilities and areas in Okinawa
                      will be returned. Okinawa
                      Prefecture and relevant
                      municipalities had been
                      established the committee to
                      discuss the rough draft of the
                      land use plan with land owners.
                      I as an expert of land use
                      planning am a member of the
                      committee. But it still has many
                      issues to establish the plan.
                      Okinawa pref. had planned a
                      competition of these issues. Our
                      Lab received Award For
                      Excellence of the proposal.

What is our purpose in our future, in our land?
Okinawa won the big bonus from the central government in
last year. In faith, it amounts 300 billion yen. But may be it is
the last chance and it will be ended in a decade.
So, by using the big public budgets, we decided to create not
just a physical place but・・・

  function and infrastructure in each returning Base.

Because Retuning Base Areas will be the place of high demand
by the train.
Broad-based Industry :
• Okinawan inter-industry relations table highlights
  weakness of Okinawan Secondary Industries. It
  needs to develop the industrial environment.


• But today’s Okinawa already have a lot of blank
  space in industrial area. It amounts 190 ha in
  south-Mid Okinawa Main island.
• →It is not simple to solve this problem.

沖縄の新社会資本整備に向けて

  • 1. Okinawan U.S.A Base The Special Action Committee on Okinawa (SACO) is a formal agreement made between the United States Government and the Government of Japan. With the SACO, approximately 21 percent of total acreage of the US facilities and areas in Okinawa will be returned. Okinawa Prefecture and relevant municipalities had been established the committee to discuss the rough draft of the land use plan with land owners. I as an expert of land use planning am a member of the committee. But it still has many issues to establish the plan. Okinawa pref. had planned a competition of these issues. Our Lab received Award For Excellence of the proposal.
