Site Recovery Manager is a disaster recovery solution that helps migrate virtual machines between a protected vCenter site and a recovery site. It can protect VMs individually using vSphere Replication or in datastore groups using array-based replication. Site Recovery Manager orchestrates the recovery process to minimize downtime. The protected site provides critical services while the recovery site is an alternative location. Bidirectional protection allows each site to act as protected or recovery for different VMs. Components can be heterogeneous between sites if compatible versions are used. Site Recovery Manager has system requirements for the virtual appliance and licensing. Operational limits and required network ports are also outlined.
