1. Sprint Engineering Performance Review
• Manager Comments (Don Bessey 2008): Shawn continues to be a strong technical engineer and is one I can
count on when there are issues and problems dealing with installation activities or new technologies. He
researches these new technologies and partners with the planning and standards teams to ensure he has all
the correct information to move forward in writing a quality specification. In most cases a spec template is
not available and Shawn provides his spec to the standards team to be used as the template for other
engineering teams. Shawn has developed excel spreadsheets to be used by all engineers to assist them with
IMN number lookups and also a spreadsheet to assist the engineers in providing correct DC power material
requirements for material ordering. I have tasked Shawn with special projects throughout 2008 as he stated
and he always steps up to these challenges with enthusiasm and a positive outlook. Shawn is an engineer
who is very teamwork orientated and is always willing to assist his peers, installation or management. He is
looked upon as a SME for almost all technology platforms and his expertise is sought out by other engineers
both within the team or other regional engineers. He looks for ROI opportunities and for ways to better
processes and procedures as he has stated. He has received numerous SVE awards and Thanks You notes for
his help and initiatives.
• Manager Comments (Don Bessey 2007): Shawn is one the engineers that I look upon to provide training to
new engineers as well as his peers within the team and other regional engineers. He is recognized as a SME
in many platforms and a go to person for technical issues.
• Manager Comments (Don Bessey 2006): With being in the engineering department for only seven months
Shawn has demonstrated his ability to learn quickly and is becoming a valued member of the team. His
technical strengths became evident quite early when he was assigned new technologies and EF&I projects
which he no prior knowledge on. Feedback from his peers within the team and from the other regions is
always positive and he is always willing to assist with technical questions.
