Bombay Education Society Celebrates 200 years.Russell Kane
The Bombay Education Society (BES), the oldest society in Mumbai dedicated to the education and welfare of children, today celebrated 200 years of its foundation in 1815 by Archdeacon George Barnes at a special commemorative service and function at Christ Church School (CCS) Parish Hall, Byculla which, along with Barnes School & Junior College, Devlali, is one of the two schools managed by BES.
The service was attended by a capacity crowd comprising of the BES Board of Directors and office bearers, over 1,800 students of both its schools, alumni from as far back as 1941 and well wishers.
The Principal, Vice Principal of Barnes and a large number of the staff from Barnes School & Junior College made the journey from Devlali to attend the ceremony and function.
The alumni in attendance included the Head Boy of CCS for 1941, A. Moses, the Head Girl for 1944, Miriam Mallelu Kanga, Rashid Ansari (brother of Khalid Ansari of Mid-day) and ex-students from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US and the Gulf States. They were overwhelmed with nostalgia as they travelled down memory lane.
Students lined the road to CCS Church waving colourful flags to welcome the attendees. A banner procession, led by the school Head Boy and Head Girl, proudly holding the school shield and displaying the vibrant colours of the various houses, welcomed the BES Board of Directors. Special commemorative gold & silver plated medallions were presented to the staff, students and alumni.
Giant screens were installed outside the venue for the attendees who could not be accommodated in the packed venue. The service was also transmitted live on Cable TV through South & Central Mumbai.
The main celebrant at the special commemorative service was Rev. John Silas whilst the homily was delivered by Rev. Sushil Sumitra, an ex student of CCS, 1991. The CCS School Captains, Samuel George and Rida Ubharay, did the Biblical readings. The CCS Choir sang rousing versions of the school song ‘Receiving strength I will arise’ and the school hymn, ‘O God, our help in ages past, stirring many emotions with a passionate delivery of ‘The Impossible Dream’.
In his Presidential address, Mr. Ronald K, White, President of the BES, recounted the key milestones in the momentous journey of BES and highlighted the academic excellence and extracurricular achievements of both schools as well as the value based education provided to every student.
An exhibition showcasing the 200 year history of the BES has been organised in the CCS Hall. Other events include a Mega Musical ‘A Journey in Time’ specially conceived for the occasion by Raell Padamsee’s Ace Productions, ‘A Journey to Mini India’ (cultural fest), ‘Reminiscences’ (alumni dinner & dance), ‘Piyali to Thali’ (food festival) and an arts & crafts exhibition.

We propose to formulate an absolutely new paradigm for the solid-state power engineering in the field of the electricity conversion into cold based on the “Freezing Chip” technology. It is the creation of the novel thin-film materials (electro freezing/heating foil) based on the nanostructured dielectrics and semiconductors with the preset optimal parameters and changing a cooling process into a heating process simply by switching the polarity of the supply voltage. We have developed nanostructured semiconductors with a non-conventional mechanism of electron conductivity 10 – 10^3 Ohm-1*cm-1. In this case the material heat conduction is of a purely lattice type and is 0,1- 1,0 W/(m*K). Actually, we have developed some kind of an electron heat pipe, but in a nanostructured solid. It allows the principal constraint imposed by the Wiedemann-Franz’s law on the efficiency in Peltier effect-based thermo electrical refrigerators to be eliminated. The heat conduction of nanostructured semiconductors having the same electrical conductance as that in the best Bi:Te:Se:-based electrical refrigerators is more than 10-100 times less that offers promise to achieve the energy efficiencies 50%-70 % at 100-300 K and 15-50 % at 10-100 K temperature ranges per one refrigerator stage.
Femtotechnologies. step i atom hydrogen. alexander ilyanokAlexander Ilyanok
It is considered unpromising today to study huge interval between nucleus and atom external shell, so called femtoregion, spread from nanometers to femtometers. But without knowledge of atoms spatial structure and their fields it is impossible to construct molecules correctly, and to build nanoobjects further. Femtotechnologies have to lay down in a theoretical basis of nanotechnologies without which development of applied researches is impossible.
In work the femtoregion of the simplyest element, atom of hydrogen, is considered. It is shown that the electron in atom of hydrogen has the difficult spatial structure taking which into account allows to specify fundamental constants, such as a constant of thin structure, the speed of light, Bohr radius of an electron. It is shown that on the basis of these constants it is possible to construct the fundamental scales scaling both internal and external fields of atoms. It allows to formulate macroquantum laws that govern the Universe. It means that without research atoms femtoregion it is impossible to eliminate an abyss which arose between gravitation and electromagnetism. It is shown that our model removes a number of theoretical contradictions and is perfectly confirmed by the last astrophysical experiments.

For the first time the opportunity of transfer functions of the human cerebral cortex in silicon neurochip of 10 cm^3 with 3D nanojet printer is shows. This is due to the fact that in the last 10 years a new direction in nanotechnology has appeared - the creation of organic and inorganic nanoclusters of certain size, called superatoms, which exhibit the unique properties of elementary atoms and can formally establish a new "periodic table". The development of an entirely new field of science opens the possibility to use cheaper isoelectronic analogues instead of expensive items.
In 1998, we proposed an electronic model of superatoms of helium in orthophaze and paraphase. These superatoms are formed from metal oxides and semiconductors. On this base we developed a new class of single-electron devices with unique physical properties. For example, one can create a computer with 10^16 transactions per second while consuming only a few joules of energy, which is close to the thermodynamic limit 3,4∙10^20 operations/joule. The computer can be grown in a 3D topology by jet nanolithography. Neuroprocessor with performance close to the one of the human cortex takes volume of few cubic centimeters. To demonstrate the formation conditions of superatoms we have developed a new model of an electron with energy of 0.1-0.2 eV, namely «cold» ring electron with radius of 7.25 nm. From the standpoint of superatoms we can consider the physical and chemical properties of proteins like supermolecules formed from superatoms. For example, the protein tubulin which forms nerve fibers and nuclear scaffolds and cells shows unique physical properties. It forms nanotubes with a diameter of 14.5 nm.
The developed technology of jet nanolithography allows us to grow inorganic artificial neurons, while watching their growth using the methods of nanophotonics. Back in 2005, we have patented scanning nanojet microscope, working in real time to monitor the living cell and its dynamics. In 2015 the Nobel Prize has been obtained for similar work on methods of fluorescence microscopy with a priority in 2006. However, the practical importance and potential of our development is much broader than that of the Nobel laureates. We can see at once to build nano-objects, but they only see, and not in real time.
Proposed electronic model of superatoms greatly simplifies the task of atomic-molecular engineering.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
