This document provides an introduction to the book "Behind the Scenes of Obsession" which was psychographed by Divaldo Pereira Franco and dictated by the spirit Manoel Philomeno de Miranda. The book examines cases of obsession that occurred between 1937-1938 in Salvador, Brazil. It aims to share information about obsession techniques used by obsessive spirits and disobsession techniques applied by discarnate instructors. The introduction discusses the problem of obsession and how Spiritism has provided antidotes and therapies. It also explains how the spiritual author was able to gather information for the book after his own discarnation.
Spiritism4all - Andre luiz - Francisco Candido Xavier - Disobsession - 2nd ed...Spiritism Forall
Disobsession is a different book dictated by the spirit of André Luiz and psychographed by the mediums Francisco Cândido Xavier and Waldo Vieira. It is a book dedicated to those students of the Spiritist Doctrine who have already taken the basic training and the mediumistic training course, having already worked on the initial steps of their mediumship. The Spiritism4All group will comment on the work in a series of videos in English, sharing their experiences, aiming to propagate this book.
This document discusses obsession from a Spiritist perspective. It begins by explaining that according to Spiritism, the meaning of life is transcendence through successive lives on Earth in order to develop our spiritual potential. It then discusses how Kardec discovered the subconscious through his research on psychic phenomena, pre-dating Freud's work. Finally, it notes that some psychiatrists criticize Spiritism for invading their domains, but that Kardec in fact raised the problem of the subconscious scientifically before Freud through his Spiritist research.

THE PSYCHOLOGIST AND THE MAGICIAN: SOME GOOD ADVICE ON HOW TO SEE LIFE AS IT ...Dr Ian Ellis-Jones
This document summarizes and discusses the short story "The Psychologist and the Magician" by Ernest Christopher Rodwick. It tells the story of a psychologist named Professor Herman von Scholtz who agrees to undergo an "ordeal" with a magician named Marbado in a Himalayan cave. The psychologist must walk through the cave regardless of what he sees, hears, feels or thinks. The story is an allegory about how the mind can be "hypnotized" by illusions and beliefs that have no real power or existence. It illustrates how we identify with mental projections and concepts of self that cause suffering but don't truly exist. By refusing to accept the illusions, the psychologist is able to walk through
Lecture 00 history of the psychology of religionPaweł Socha
Psychology of religion began with Wilhelm Wundt in the early 20th century. Key figures who helped establish it as a discipline include Edwin Starbuck, who published one of the first books on the subject in 1899, and William James, whose 1902 work Varieties of Religious Experience analyzed religious experiences. The field began to take shape internationally in the early 1900s, with influential figures like Freud, Jung, and Hall meeting in 1910. It developed varied traditions across countries, with pioneers emerging in places like France, Switzerland, Germany, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Italy, and Poland.

The document discusses different forms and concepts of mysticism. It defines mysticism as coming from the Greek meaning "to conceal" and refers to secret religious rituals. It describes various mystical traditions - including shamanism, Christian mysticism, Jewish mysticism, Tantra, Sikhism, and Taoism. It also discusses different types of mystical experiences, such as theistic versus non-theistic experiences and apophatic versus kata phatic mysticism. The document provides examples from philosophers and religious figures to illustrate different views of mystical experiences and concepts.
Psychological and Sociological Aspects of Mysticismpaulussilas
This document summarizes a journal article about the psychological and sociological aspects of mysticism. It discusses how:
1) Mystical behaviors are accompanied by superstitions, myths, and legends that are an integral part of daily life in many societies. Most spiritually healthy people rely on mystical beliefs.
2) Mysticism can be religious or extra-religious. It is also related to concepts like spiritualism, animism, perennialism, new age beliefs, and neo-paganism.
3) Studies have found that mentally healthy people often report mystical experiences like profound joy and happiness. Many rituals are aimed at helping people understand their will and subconscious desires. Mystical beliefs persist in
Shamanism is a traditional practice of interacting with spirits through altered states of consciousness in order to heal illness. Shamans act as messengers between the spirit world and human world. Shamanism originated around 25,000 years ago among hunter-gatherer cultures in Northern Europe, Northern Asia, and parts of Russia. Common beliefs in shamanism include the existence of benevolent and malevolent spirits that can affect human life, and that shamans have the ability to communicate with spirits and enter the spirit world. Practices performed by shamans include ecstatic dancing, singing medicine songs, fasting, and participating in sweat lodge and ayahuasca ceremonies. Shamans wear distinctive regalia including coats made of skins
This document provides an in-depth discussion and analysis of Buddhist meditation and the Four Noble Truths. It argues that the Buddha's teachings on anicca, anatta, and dukkha can be balanced by opposing concepts of stasis, spirit, and sukha. It also draws parallels between the Buddha's enlightenment experience and the 12-step program, describing them as practical processes for awakening. Meditation is framed as a way to work through the Four Noble Truths and cultivate non-attachment through understanding, letting go of craving, realizing cessation, and following the eightfold path.
An overview of the positive role of anxiety, and how the work of modern European philosophers can inform a unique approach to helping people face up to, and therefore work through, their fear of fear
Hypnosis has been misunderstood and misrepresented over the centuries. George Kreskin, a mentalist and hypnotist, challenged the notion that hypnosis requires inducing a trance state. Through stage demonstrations and offering a reward, Kreskin argued people are just as suggestible when not in a supposed "trance" state. He believed hypnosis' effects are due to suggestion and autosuggestion, not a unique altered state. Autosuggestion involves mental relaxation and visualization exercises to help people achieve goals like quitting habits through changing their own thoughts and beliefs. True hypnosis requires willingness and does not give the hypnotist power over the subject against their will.
Logotheory as Phenomenological PhilosophyTimo Purjo
This document discusses philosophical perspectives on the human person and spirituality. It describes philosophical anthropology as examining the constitution and existence of humans holistically and normatively. Phenomenology is discussed as a method to analyze experiences and awareness. Max Scheler's view of spirit, psyche, and body as modes of human existence is presented, as is Nicolai Hartmann's division of reality into inanimate, organic, psychic, and intellectual-spiritual levels. The spiritual is described as capable of self-reflection, directionality, and sharing meanings intersubjectively. Situationality is introduced as how one relates to their world. The differences between psychic and spiritual awareness are outlined, with the spiritual described as objectifying experiences through concepts and
This document is the preface to the Encyclopedia of Psychology and Religion, which was compiled by editors David Leeming, Kathryn Madden, and Stanton Marlan. It discusses the origins and purpose of creating the encyclopedia, which is to provide a comprehensive reference work that brings together the fields of psychology and religion. The preface provides biographies of the three editors and acknowledges those who supported the project.
Waking the tiger_healing_trauma_the_innate_capacity_to_transform_overwhelming...Cristina Baboi
"Body sensations, rather than intense emotion, is the key to healing trauma. Be aware of any emotional reaction swelling up inside you, and be aware how your body is experiencing these emotions in the form of sensations and thoughts. If your emotions feel too intense, i.e., rage, terror, profound helplessness, etc., you need to enlist professional help."
- Peter A Levine, p. 12, Waking the Tiger
Dr. Shriniwas Janardan Kashalikar conducted a new study of the Bhagavad Gita. In his analysis, he summarizes Arjuna's experience in Chapter 11 where Arjuna gains an "objective vision" and sees the cosmic consciousness. This experience was destabilizing but thrilling. In Chapter 12, Arjuna asks Krishna to clarify whether worship of formless cosmic consciousness or a deity form is preferable, and Krishna explains that worshipping a form is more practical for most people. In Chapter 13, Krishna describes concepts like the field (kshetra), the knower of the field (kshetragna), knowledge (jnana), and the object
Parapsychology is the study of ostensible paranormal phenomena such as telepathy, clairvoyance, psychokinesis, near-death experiences, and reincarnation. It aims to use scientific methodology to investigate these areas that are currently unexplained. Some phenomena studied include telepathy, the ability to induce mental states between minds; clairvoyance, gaining information through extrasensory means; and precognition, acquiring future information that cannot be deduced from present knowledge.
This document discusses obsession from a Spiritist perspective. It begins by explaining that according to Spiritism, the meaning of life is transcendence through successive lives on Earth in order to develop our spiritual abilities. It then discusses how Kardec discovered the subconscious and dimensions of life through Spiritism before Freud. Finally, it notes that some psychiatrists criticize Spiritism for invading their domains, but that Kardec in fact raised issues like the subconscious before Freud through his Spiritist research.
The document discusses Hindu concepts of the five koshas or sheaths - annamaya kosha, pranamaya kosha, manomaya kosha, vijnanamaya kosha, and anandamaya kosha - which make up human existence from the physical to the spiritual. The vijnanamaya kosha is described as the sheath of higher thought and cognition. Various yoga practices are mentioned as a means to realize the true self beyond these koshas.
1) Mediumship has evolved historically from early humans worshipping supernatural forces in nature as "gods", to the development of tribal mental mediumship and collective spirits beliefs. 2) Famous figures throughout history were said to have experienced mediumistic phenomena, such as Socrates, Brutus, Nero. 3) Mediumship was highly developed in early Christianity, with Jesus and the apostles displaying powerful physical mediumship like psychophony and xenoglossy at Pentecost, as well as spiritual healing.
Anomalous spiritual experiences can be both true and false, requiring differentiation. True spiritual experiences involve experiencing eternal happiness or bliss and are verified through criteria like being repeatable and causing positive life changes. False experiences may be pathological and require treatment. Spiritual experiences have been studied scientifically through fields like neurotheology, which examines brain regions involved, and transpersonal psychology, which studies transcendent experiences. Vedanta philosophy defines spiritual experience as experiencing the eternal reality or bliss of Brahman and provides methods like yoga and association with holy men to enhance experiences of the supernatural. Both science and Vedanta point to a combination of approaches involving psychiatry, psychology and philosophy to understand the nature and occurrence of anomalous spiritual experiences.
This document provides an overview of Hatha Yoga as the sadhana, or spiritual practice, of the current age of Kali Yuga according to ancient Hindu texts. It describes Hatha Yoga as a method of balancing the solar and lunar energies in the body and mind through practices like asanas, pranayama, and meditation. The document outlines some of the key ancient scriptures on Hatha Yoga such as the Goraksasatakam, Gheranda Samhita, and Hatha Yoga Pradipika. It explains how Hatha Yoga can help humans evolve out of animal tendencies and realize higher consciousness through awareness of the body, emotions, energy, and mind.
The document discusses alien encounters and provides opposing views on their nature. It describes common elements of alien encounters like examination and communication with aliens. It also discusses how some see alien encounters as spiritual experiences, while others view them as occurring in altered states of consciousness caused by sleep paralysis. The document provides perspectives from both proponents and opponents of the reality of alien encounters.
This document discusses various philosophical and religious perspectives on the human spirit or soul. It begins by explaining different uses of the terms "spirit" in the Bible and various cultural understandings. It then examines perspectives from Plato, Aristotle, and philosophers like Avicenna and Descartes on the relationship between mind, body, and spirit. The document also discusses concepts like embodiment and different views on the interaction between physical and non-physical aspects of human nature. It poses questions about how embodiment explains the human spirit and different views on the relationship between body and spirit.
Hatha Yoga is the perfect tool to help man evolve efficiently out of his animal tendencies into human qualities and then, to obtain transcendence into Divine realms of being. Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri taught his students the concept of “Four-Fold Awareness”. One must, he said, first become aware of the body. The Second Awareness is awareness of emotions, senses and energy. The Third Awareness is awareness of mind. And the Fourth Awareness is of awareness itself”. Good Hatha Yoga fosters deep awareness of the body inside-outside, right-side, left-side, to side, bottom side. The practices stimulate deep consciousness in every cell. This awareness “spills over” into an awareness of emotions, sensations, and energy, (prana flows). The awareness deepens into an awareness of the working of the mind, and how body, emotions, sensations and Prana are inseparably linked together. This deepening of consciousness enables the practitioner to direct the course of his own life activities, rather than be a victim of haphazard Karmic forces. Consciousness is the key to control and Hatha Yoga fosters consciousness.

The Vision of Wholeness from the Viewpoint of PsychosynthesisEwa Danuta Bialek
This document provides an overview of psychosynthesis from the viewpoint of Ewa Białek. The key points are:
1) Psychosynthesis views the individual as a multidimensional whole and aims to integrate all parts (mind, body, emotions, spirit) around the personal center.
2) It emphasizes will as central to human experience and identity, seeking to develop will constructively for self-realization and harmony with others.
3) The goal is to broaden consciousness beyond the personal to connect with higher spiritual dimensions and experience unity with all life.
This document discusses different perspectives on the human spirit or soul from philosophy and religion. It covers views from Plato, Aristotle, Islamic philosophers like Avicenna, and Christian thinkers like Aquinas and Augustine. It addresses concepts like embodiment, the mind-body problem, and dualism. It examines how cognition arises through interaction with the environment according to enactivism theory. In various religions, the soul is seen as persisting after death or being immortal. Overall, the document analyzes philosophical and theological understandings of the human spirit or soul.

Prāṇa is a vital life force or energy in yoga and Ayurvedic philosophy. It is considered a subtle form of energy circulating through the subtle body that supports bodily functions and facilitates consciousness. The document discusses prāṇa based on ancient Indian scriptures, defining it as a highly intelligent energy that permeates all living beings and governs biological processes in a way that is not fully understood. 026a - WE REFLECT ON THE CONSCIENCE AND ON THE INEXPLICABLE CRIMESOrdineGesu
The document discusses the human soul and conscience. It explains that the soul is not the spirit, but rather the conscience or "akashic body" that is formed over countless lifetimes in the mineral, vegetable and animal kingdoms before becoming human. Murders are often committed by those with an underdeveloped conscience from recently leaving the animal kingdom. It is the expansion of one's conscience through reincarnation that allows for greater spiritual evolution and goodness. While evil appears to outweigh good in the world, God uses even mistakes and suffering to expand individual consciences until love ultimately triumphs.
This document provides an introduction and overview of some key concepts in Hinduism. It discusses that Hinduism describes the nature of outer and inner realities and ways to obtain self-knowledge. Some of the main principles discussed are that reality is one universe of being, the experience of reality is triplicate encompassing the cosmos, awareness, and understanding, and that the inner and outer realities are mirrored. It also discusses that the mind and consciousness are distinct, with the mind being finite and consciousness being infinite, and that various methods of yoga and worship can help one obtain knowledge and find the meeting point between consciousness and the mind.
The document discusses different philosophical perspectives on the self from various thinkers throughout history. It provides summaries of the views of prominent philosophers including Plato, Socrates, Augustine, Aquinas, Descartes, Hume, Kant, Freud on the nature of the self and how it is composed. Their views range from the self being dualistic with both a body and soul, to a bundle of perceptions and experiences, to the role of unconscious influences on behavior. The document aims to examine how one's personal identity is shaped by internal and external factors from these philosophical lenses.
The document discusses the concepts of reincarnation and karma in Hinduism. It explains that Hindu philosophy views the human as composed of two principles - the eternal spiritual soul (atman) and the temporary material body. Upon death, the atman is reborn in a new body, determined by its karma from past lives. This continuous cycle of birth, death and rebirth, governed by the law of karma, is known as samsara. The goal is to achieve moksha or liberation from this cycle through fulfilling one's dharma and reaching spiritual perfection.
Parapsychology is the scientific study of paranormal phenomena and experiences. The most studied areas are extrasensory perception (ESP) and psychokinesis (PK). ESP includes clairvoyance, telepathy, and precognition. Parapsychological research has explored topics like telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, psychokinesis, reincarnation, possession, alien abduction, near-death experiences, and more. Research methods have included experiments, surveys, hypnotic regression, and analyses of case studies in an attempt to understand paranormal experiences and determine whether anomalous effects exist. However, many paranormal claims remain controversial and difficult to study scientifically.
This document discusses holistic development of the whole person by examining the interconnection between thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and the different aspects of a person including the physical, cognitive, psychological, social, and spiritual. It explores philosophical concepts of dualism and holism. Dualism sees the person as separate mind and body, while holism views the person as a unified whole that is more than the sum of parts. Holistic development considers all aspects of a person to fully understand their totality.
This document discusses sensation, perception, and extrasensory perception (ESP). It defines sensation as the body's detection of external or internal stimuli, and perception as the interpretation of sensory information. It describes the five traditional senses and their corresponding sense organs and receptors. It also discusses concepts like absolute threshold and pareidolia. The document then explores various forms of ESP like telepathy, precognition, retrocognition, psychokinesis, and mediumship. It provides examples of famous cases of ESP and individuals who demonstrated purported psychic abilities. Finally, it notes criticisms of ESP research, including the lack of replication and reliable methodology.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

SPIRITIST GLOSSARY OF TERMS
Based on The Mediums’ book (CHAPTER XXXII), Parapsychology Today an
Tomorrow from Herculano Pires and expanded by Spiritism4All Group.
AGENERATE - (from the Greek primitive a, and géine, géinomai, to engender; that which
has not been engendered). - This term expresses a variety of tangible apparitions; the
state of certain spirits who can momentarily assume the form of a living person, so as to
produce a complete illusion.
ASTRAL PROJECTION - Astral projection (or astral travel), is a term used in
esotericism to describe an intentional out-of-body experience that assumes the existence
of a soul called an "astral body" that is separate from the physical body and capable of
travelling outside it throughout the universe. The idea of astral travel is ancient and occurs
in multiple cultures. The modern terminology of "astral projection" was coined and
promoted by 19th-century Theosophists. It is sometimes reported in association with
dreams and forms of meditation.
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astral_projection
COUNSELING MEDIUNS - The Counseling mediums are the class of mediums that
provide Christian orientations to unbalanced, sick or evil spirits in disobsession meetings.
ECTOPLASM - A whitish, gelatinous substance that comes out of the body of the medium,
by the natural orifices or by the pores, and which, according to Richet, who created the
word, has irresistible tendency to form human limbs or bodies; the element-organic aspect
of the phenomenon of materialization, which is externally also in the form of a visible or
invisible fluid, at times sensitive to touch.
ECTOPLASMIC – Composed by ectoplasm.
ERRATICITY - The state of errant or wandering spirits; that is to say, of such as are not
incarnate; the state of a spirit during the intervals between two successive corporeal
existences.
EVOCATION - The act of evoking or calling the spirit or spirits with whom we desire to
enter into communication, as distinguished from invocation, which is the act of addressing
ourselves to a spirit or spirits for help or assistance.
FLUIDICALLY MAGNETIZED WATER - The so called “fluidically or spiritually”
magnetized water is a special water that enables the patient to retain energies and
increases the absorption potential of restoring fluids received during the pass. This will
allow the patient to continue to receive spiritual benefits between the pass sessions. It is
also very helpful for the digestive organs to receive a direct influx of spiritual fluids.
Ordinary water has the possibility of conserving spiritual fluids for indefinite periods of time
without having their properties suffer any deterioration. Being of an inorganic nature this
substance also plays an important part in the revitalization of the physical body and is, in

fact, the primal vehicle of vitality and thought to act as a possible link between organic and
inorganic principles.
See Practical Guide for Magnetic and Spiritual Healing by Jussara Korngold.
GLOSSOLALIA - ecstatic or apparently ecstatic utterance of usually unintelligible speech
like sounds, as in a religious assembly, viewed by some as a manifestation of deep
religious experience.
See https://www.collinsdictionary.com/pt/dictionary/english/glossolalia
HEALING MEDIUNS - The Healing mediums are the class of mediums that apply their
own energies as healing blesses to other people (other mediums or needy people). In
Brazil they are “passistas” and their healing blesses are called “passes”.
IDEOPLASTY - Objective mental formations; formed images with modeling of ectoplasm
through thought; second Richet, Imoda and others, spiritual ghosts artificially created by
thought; mental models, which can be photographed.
LYCANTHROPY – The supposed act of turning one's self or another person into a wolf.
The power possessed by some evil spirits of changing hypnotized spirits into wolves.
MEDIANIMIC - (from the Latin words medium (see below), and anima, soul). -
Appertaining to the special faculty or action of intermediacy between souls in flesh and
souls in the spirit-world. We say "A medianimic communication;" "Possession of the
medianimic faculty constitutes a medium."
MEDIANIMITY - (from the Latin medium, and anima; middle-man, intermediary). - A
person who serves as a go-between, or intermediary, between the souls of spirits and of
men.
MEDIUMISTIC - Synonymous with Medianimic.
MEDIUMSHIP - The exercise of the medianimic faculty. The calling, work, mission, or
action, of a medium.

METERGY (parapsychology) - Production of objective phenomena (from the Greek:
ergon, work) by action at a distance: movement of objects, ideoplasties, knocks or noises,
ectoplasmic formations, direct voice.
MONOIDEISM - Mental state where one idea dominates the whole psychic organism.
PASS - Passes are psychic transfusions of energy to alleviate the suffering of sick people.
“Jesus imposed His hands over the sick and transmitted health to them. His loving power
knew the slightest imbalances of Nature and the resources to restore the indispensable
harmony to it. Not one of the Divine Master’s actions lacked significance. Recognizing this
fact, His disciples began to lay their fraternal hands in the name of the Master and became
instruments of His Divine Mercy. Now, in revived Christianity, we once again benefit from a
rescue effort from the invisible plane through passes. The administration of passes as
psychic transfusions of energy represents a continuation of the Master’s work to alleviate
suffering in the world. This is how precious spiritual energies flow from Christ's
Messengers to donors and beneficiaries It would be audacity on the part of the new
disciples, to expect results as sublime as the ones obtained by Jesus when He healed the
disabled, the disturbed or dying persons. The Master knows, while we are merely learning.
It is necessary, however, not to neglect His lesson, and continue the Masters' work through
use of fraternal hands. Jesus' providential service can be extended wherever there may be
a sincere mental disposition for the good; the external method is not important. It is up to
us to recognize that good can and should be done in His name”.
See Caminho, Verdade e Vida (Path, Truth and Life) by the spirit of Emmanuel, psychography by Francisco
Candido Xavier or the Practical Guide for Magnetic and Spiritual Healing by Jussara Korngold.
PERISPIRIT - (from the Greek peri roundabout, and the Latin spiritus, breath, spirit). - The
semi-material envelope of the soul. During incarnation, it serves as the link or intermediary
between the incarnate spirit and the matter of his fleshly body; during erraticity, it
constitutes the spirit's fluidic body, inseparable from the personality of the spirit.
PHYSIOPSYCHIC - Pertaining to both mind and body.
PNEUMATOGRAPHY - (from the Greek pneuma, air, breath, wind, spirit, and grapho, I
write). - This word denotes the direct writing of spirits, without the use of the medium's
hand.
PSI PHENOMENON – Parapsychological phenomenon, also called PSI phenomenon,
any of several types of events that cannot be accounted for by natural law or knowledge
apparently acquired by other than usual sensory abilities. The discipline concerned with
investigating such phenomena is called parapsychology.
Parapsychological phenomena of two types have been described. They may be cognitive,
as in the case of clairvoyance, telepathy, or precognition. Here one person is believed to
have acquired knowledge of facts, of other people’s thoughts, or of future events without
the use of the ordinary sensory channels—hence the term extrasensory perception (ESP),
often used to designate these phenomena. Alternatively, parapsychological phenomena
may be physical in character: the fall of dice or the dealing of cards is thought to be

influenced by a person’s “willing” them to fall in a certain way; or objects are moved, often
in a violent fashion, by poltergeists (see poltergeist). The term psychokinesis is often used
in this connection. The general term psi has become established to denote all kinds of
parapsychological phenomena.
See https://www.britannica.com/ topic/parapsychological-phenomenon
PSYCHOVIBROMETER – Equipment that has the ability to register the vibratory waves of
all the spirits that pass by it, thus denouncing any intrusions by the Superior Spirits, who
have higher frequency perispirits due to their spiritual evolution, in comparison with the
spiritual bodies of the common spirits.
PSYCHOGRAPHER - (from the Greek psuké butterfly, soul, and grapho, I write). - A
person who writes by psychography; a writing medium.
PSYCHOGRAPHY - The writing of spirits by a medium's hand.
PSYCHOPHONY - The communication of spirits by the voice of a speaking medium.
PSYCHOSPHERE - The sphere or realm of human consciousness; (originally, now rare)
the part of the biosphere inhabited by humans.
REINCARNATION - The return of a spirit to corporeal life; plurality of existences, in this
planet and in other material worlds.
SEMATOLOGY - (from the Greek sema, a sign, and logos, a discourse). - The language of
signs. The communications of spirits by the movements of inert bodies.
SOMNAMBULIST PSYCHOPHONIC MEDIUM - The somnambulist psychophonic
medium is a kind of psychophonic medium that has no conscience of the spiritual
messages he produces. During the psychophonic trance he detaches from his physical
body leaving to the communicating spirit a better control of the process, allowing changes
in voice, face and gestures that belong to the communicating spirit. Despite this, good
mediums of this category manage to keep control of communication, not allowing the
manifestation of inappropriate gestures and foul words. Because of these characteristics,
they are also called “unconscious mediums” in the spirit community, but the name is not
the most appropriate.
SPIRIT - According to the spiritist theory, spirits are the intelligent beings of the creation;
they people the universe beyond the limits of the visible world, and constitute the
population of the invisible world; they are the souls of men who have lived upon the earth,
or in other globes, and who have quitted their corporeal envelope.
SPIRIT-RAPPERS - A class of spirits who reveal their presence and their quality by raps
and noises of different kinds.
SPIRITIST - That which has to do with spiritism ; a partisan of spiritism; one who believes
in the fact of spirit-manifestations.

6. Spiritist Glossary of terms including Parapsychology and Metapsychic by Spiritism4All
SPIRITUALISM - The opposite of materialism; a belief in the existence of the spiritual and
immaterial soul. We say, Spiritualism is the basis of all religions.
SPIRITUALIST - One who occupies himself with spiritualism; a partisan of spiritualism.
Whoever believes that there is in the universe something which is not matter is a
spiritualist, but spiritualism does not necessarily imply a belief in the manifestations of
spirits. Every spiritist is necessarily a spiritualist, but every spiritualist is not necessarily a
spiritist; the materialist is neither the one nor the other. We say, "the spiritualist
philosophy," as the antithesis of "theoretic materialism;" "A work embodying spiritualist
ideas," as the opposite of "a work embodying materialistic ideas." We say, "Spiritist
manifestations are produced by the action of spirits on matter;" "spiritist morality is the
result of teachings given by spirits." "There are spiritualists who ridicule the spiritist belief."
In these examples, the employment of the word spiritualist for spiritist would produce
confusion.
SPIRITUALLY MAGNETIZED WATER – See FLUIDICALLY MAGNETIZED WATER
TELEKINESIS: The supposed inducement of movement of an object by mental or
spiritual power.
TELEPLASM (parapsychology) - a hypothetical emanation from the body of a medium
that serves as the means for telekinesis.
See https://www.collinsdictionary.com/pt/dictionary/english/teleplasm
TYPTER - (from the Greek tupto, I strike). - One who has the power of producing
typtology; a rapping or tipping medium.
TYPTOLOGY - Language of raps or tilts; a mode of spirit-communication. Alphabetical
typtology; the designation of letters (or cyphers) by raps or tilts.
XENOGLOSSIA - an ability claimed by some mediums, clairvoyants, etc, to speak a
language with which they are unfamiliar.
