Spello is a town of about 8,500 inhabitants located in east central Umbria, Italy. It was founded by the Umbri tribe but contains many Roman remains from when it was called Hispellum, including city walls, gates and an amphitheater. Over the centuries Spello gained importance and prestige but was later devastated by barbarians. It has held many events throughout the years, such as the Floral Festival of Corpus Christi in May and June where participants create works of art entirely out of fresh flowers in under 24 hours.
