Matthew 1:18-19
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came
about: His mother Mary was pledged to be
married to Joseph, but before they came
together, she was found to be with child
through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph
her husband was a righteous man and did
not want to expose her to public disgrace,
he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

Matthew 1:20-21
But after he had considered this, an angel
of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and
said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid
to take Mary home as your wife, because
what is conceived in her is from the Holy
Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you
are to give Him the name Jesus, because He
will save His people from their sins.’

Matthew 1:22-23
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord
had said through the prophet: ‘The virgin
will be with child and will give birth to a
son, and they will call Him Immanuel’ –
which means, ‘God with us.’

Matthew 1:24-25
When Joseph woke up, he did what the
angel of the Lord had commanded him and
took Mary home as his wife. But he had no
union with her until she gave birth to a son.
And he gave Him the name Jesus.

We, at times, have made
Christmas into the HOW we
celebrate, rather than
focusing on the WHY
The UNIQUENESS of Jesus’ BIRTH gives
insight into who He is and provides another
reason to receive Him as one sent from God.
Prophecies tell us WHO the Messiah would
be, WHERE He would be born, WHEN He
would be born, HOW, and WHY.
In the OT we encounter a
multitude of PROMISES
delivered, tracked through the prophets,
which in the NT we see FULFILLED in the
arrival of Jesus.
Joseph is not to be AFRAID to take Mary as
his wife because all that has happened is the
fulfillment of prophecy.
Fulfilled prophecy is a strong reason to place
our FAITH in Jesus.
A BIRTH like no
other leads to a
LIFE like no other.
How can we know this baby can save us
from our sins? By looking at all the delivery
tracking information the prophets provided
in ADVANCE that is fulfilled in Jesus.

My Next Step Today is to:
( ) Do the home life help (in bulletin)
( ) Keep my focus on the “why” of Christmas,
Jesus’ birth
( ) Meditate on Isaiah 7:14 and 9:6-7
( ) Compare the differences between
Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 1:26-38
( ) Evaluate where I need to trust God has a plan
and is in control
