Industry
Profile
Private spaceflight is spaceflight or the development of
spaceflight technology that is conducted and paid for by
an entity other than a government agency.
The space industry began to develop after World War II, as
rockets and satellites entered military arsenals, later found
application in civilian applications.
In the early decades of the Space Age, the Soviet Union
and US in collaboration with private companies, entirely
funded both the development of new spaceflight
technologies and the operational costs of spaceflight.
Since the 1980s, various private initiatives were started to
pursue the privatization of space industry.
