The SoCoIS strategy aims to improve economic opportunities and living conditions in southern coastal counties of Kenya. It will develop industrial infrastructure like a deep sea port and renewable energy plant. An industrial park will help agricultural production and mining. Roads and railways will link areas. Towns will be developed with housing, schools, hospitals and markets. Currently the area relies on tourism and agriculture but lacks infrastructure, limiting growth. The strategy will seek $6 billion in bank guarantees and $63 billion in direct investments from private investors, development banks, bonds and grants to fund projects.
