The former British colony has ever undergone a period which everybody was enthusiastic in striving for a better level of democracy during CY Leung's inferior administration. However, the setbacks imposed by the brutal veto of Beijing discouraged some of the Hong Kong activists from persisting with their struggling ideals. Beijing is suspicious with the capabilities of Hong Kong people in operating a transparent election system. Especially for the recent two years, the succession of Carrie Lam as the Chief Executive of the city has been initiating a series of political suppression for prohibiting all kinds of counteractive forces such as the disqualification act on lawmakers. Hong Kong people further feel disheartened with the discussion of democracy due to the failure of Umbrella Revolution and the emergence of "Hong Kong independence" campaign. This political talk at HKSH aims to revive yellow-ribbons' alertness on the need for more social movements in the future to keep pushing forward the political reformations in Hong Kong despite of the pressures from China.
