The Orange County Sanitation District commissioned the world's first sewage hydrogen energy and fueling station. They had a successful fiscal year with a AAA bond rating and came under budget. A local news station, KTLA, visited one of their plants and did a story on their wastewater treatment process. Over 125 dignitaries attended the opening of the new hydrogen fuel station, which produces hydrogen fuel from treated sewage waste, allowing cars to fill up and get the equivalent of 70 mpg. The station received coverage from several local news outlets.

The Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD) operates two wastewater treatment plants, Plant No. 1 in Fountain Valley and Plant No. 2 in Huntington Beach, that collectively treat 221 million gallons of wastewater per day from 21 cities and special districts in central and northwest Orange County. OCSD releases the treated water into the ocean through a 5-mile offshore pipeline with an emergency 1-mile pipeline, both of which have marine life living along them. OCSD also generates biosolids and energy from the treatment process and conducts ocean monitoring programs.

- When the young girl from Fountain Valley was in a car accident near our construction site … it was important again. Because of my online relationship with them they reached out to me again. This could have easily turned into a situation where we could have found a media van camped out in front of our construction site…asking why we were putting young lives at risk with our construction.
