3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
The course is a broad-based course aimed at (semi-) residential supervision and occupational therapy in different working areas
and with target groups. During the course of studies, explicit attention was paid to the drawing up of supervision plans, target
groups, the mentor role, care and nutrition and policy development.
The examination consists of the same components as the course itself. Both the theory and the professional activities outlined in
the attainment targets must be sufficiently covered in the examination for the various components of the course of studies.
The most important duties of a(n) occupational therapist:
- The occupational therapist will provide activities to the individual and the group in residential and living situations, whereby
the self-reliance of the individual will be encouraged as far as possible. In the case of a replacement living environment,
he/she will be dealing with individuals placed generally on the basis of a social, judicial or medical indication;
- The occupational therapist is responsible for preparing, organising, offering and supervising activities for clients from specific
target groups, whereby, on the basis of method-based working, opportunities and ideal conditions are provided for the client.
The central focus is the demand for care and worthwhile occupation. Method-based working covers both community work
and technical, instrumental activities. The activities are implemented on a planned, methodical and target-oriented basis;
- There is clear evidence of increased complexity in activities and technical skills, and problems facing clients. In relation to the
demand for care, the activity supervisor comes up with new procedures, and adjusts and adapts supervision/implementation
plans;
- The occupational therapist must account for his/her actions in respect of colleagues (non-hierarchical) in multidisciplinary
consultation meetings;
- In addition, occupational therapist will supervise and instruct trainees and volunteers.
