Sochi is a large Russian city on the Black Sea coast that will host the 2014 Winter Olympics. It has a long coastline and is surrounded by mountains. Sochi was previously known for its many sanatoriums but has recently undergone large investments and construction of massive sports complexes and facilities in preparation for the Olympics. Russia has spent $50 billion on the Sochi games, making it the most expensive Olympics ever. The winter sporting events will take place in the city of Sochi and the nearby village of Krasnaya Polyana in the mountains.
