The Sober worm is a family of computer worms discovered in October 2003 that spread through email attachments. It copied itself to Windows directory files and infected over 70,000 computers across multiple variants. Some characteristic attachment names included Anti-Sob.bat, AntiTrojan.exe, and AntiVirusDoc.pif. Avoiding suspicious attachments was recommended as a preventative measure against the widespread worm.
