Pupils will learn about microorganisms over two weeks. In the first week, pupils will understand that microorganisms are living things by learning that they breathe, grow, move and are mostly microscopic. The second week focuses on how some microorganisms can be harmful and cause disease, but others have useful purposes like in food production. Pupils will learn examples of microorganism uses and how diseases spread between people, as well as ways to prevent disease transmission.
