SMAA (Subpixel Morphological Antialiasing) is a post-processing antialiasing technique that improves on previous methods like MLAA. It uses edge detection adapted for local contrast and handles patterns like sharp edges and diagonals better. SMAA renders at subpixel level for higher quality and can be combined with temporal re-projection of previous frames to reduce ghosting artifacts. It provides high quality antialiasing with faster performance than traditional supersampling methods.
