My journey began as assigned - well, I did travel around in
uncharted territory a little before starting the assigned
journey - in the Orientation World.

At first I thought this was all a bit creepy, and it was a little tricky to get my avatar
to move like I wanted. But the most frustrating part for me was getting kicked off
every 3 minutes, and then when I logged back on I either got a blurred background
with a white cloud, or my avatar would start flying or walking and I could not stop
her. I did get to practice:
                 walking running turning
                   flying changing appearance chatting
                 touching sitting playing piano
But after moving back and forth between my PC and MAC,
emailing FSO and Second Life support, uninstalling and re-
installing the software, creating a new user for my MAC (none
of which corrected the problems), I finally got to start my
official journey into the required virtual worlds...

I also got to practice jumping again. I thought I had
it mastered in the orientations, but these directions
aided my jumping skills, which I so desperately need
since I am NOT a kinesthetic learner.
This part really excited me since I love to dance. Usually I
enjoy country and western dancing, being from Texas and all,
but dancing with a pose ball wasn’t all that bad - and I really
miss dancing since I broke my leg! I learned moves that I
certainly would not do in reality, but ANYTHING is possible in
                              SL!

I am a spatial person,

probably what placed

Literary intelligence is probably my third highest
intelligence. Unfortunately I did not make it to the literary
segment of this lesson. After trying for 2 weeks, I decided

                        Math-UGH!
                     This is my weakest

                    A + B equals nothing

It made me quite sad to leave this Multiple Intelligence World. I

Here you could pick your lesson that played on all three television sets
mounted on the glass ceiling. I preferred the one about Maui and surfing hot
spots. It talked about the best winter surfing location, Jaws, located on the
north shore of Maui. The Pacific storms crated waves called swells in winter
they move to Maui. Waves collide with the ocean floor and the reef and lava
that together created a tongue that causes monster waves and swells. Steve
Wells was the expert who spoke in the video as I watched in the background
for a glimpse of my favorite island Maui.
The Weather Channel
                     presented Rapids in
                           Idaho!

Called the rapids
 “frozen liquid
     gold.”
My favorite and most relaxing part of this world. Reminds me of what?
                               MA U I
My favorite and most relaxing part of this world. Reminds me of what?
                               MA U I
When I entered this world,
there was a helper at the
          welcome sign. Below left, I
            studied the menu and
          decided to go toward the
                  Center for
              Virtual Educators.

EdTech Island
http://slurl.com/secondlife/EdTech/129/128/24

On the way to the Center for
        Virtual Educators, I passed the
             Holodeck classroom,
        innovative teaching spaces (to
the right). I tried to enter, but
                 it was closed.
Inside
            the Center...
I visited Gaming in SL, Teen SL,Video Tutorials,
Educational Technology, Tools for Teachers, and the
last image is what happens to my screen when I can
no longer see where my avatar is going or what’s in
the room. I completed a survey that was created
in Survey Guru in the Educational
        technologies booth and wandered from
booth to booth reading and looking
                  at available activities.

   Started Here
On my way to the
                  treehouse,
I saw a cool memorial where you could get a
flower and place it there. When I got to the
treehouse, the stairway was quite challenging to go up
so I decided it would be quicker to fly. When I got
there, wowee! It was beautiful. I looked at the window
where people were resting; I got me a chair in front
of the fireplace and relaxed before going to look
out the window with the flat screen television.
Quite a view from the treehouse!!
I decided to
       fly from
   treehouse for
a bird’s eye view of
   EdTech Island

  • 14. At first I thought this was all a bit creepy, and it was a little tricky to get my avatar to move like I wanted. But the most frustrating part for me was getting kicked off every 3 minutes, and then when I logged back on I either got a blurred background with a white cloud, or my avatar would start flying or walking and I could not stop her. I did get to practice: walking running turning flying changing appearance chatting touching sitting playing piano
  • 15. But after moving back and forth between my PC and MAC, emailing FSO and Second Life support, uninstalling and re- installing the software, creating a new user for my MAC (none of which corrected the problems), I finally got to start my official journey into the required virtual worlds...

  • 19. This part really excited me since I love to dance. Usually I enjoy country and western dancing, being from Texas and all, but dancing with a pose ball wasn’t all that bad - and I really miss dancing since I broke my leg! I learned moves that I certainly would not do in reality, but ANYTHING is possible in SL!
  • 20. Mult Inte iple This was one of my most llige favorite worlds! It was nces extremely colorful and user http ://slu rl.co m/se friendly. cond life/K oru/ 58/2 12/0 The first notecard welcomed me into the room and asked me to try all that interested me. It asked me to email or IM a notecard telling what I thought about this world. Then it even game me things to consider as I explored:
  • 21. onal ers trap In I looked into the mirror and reflected about what I saw - inner thoughts and meditation help me understand myself and set goals. I like me!
  • 22. nal erso terp This circle would be a great area for n I students to sit and discuss something. Either something teacher assigned or heck, why not just a conversation. It’s all about communicating effectively with others & being social.
  • 23. istic l/Art patia S I am a spatial person, but moving these blocks around to create something artistic was not my forte. I am a visual learner which is probably what placed me above average in spatial intelligence.
  • 24. ical Mus I love music although I do not sing nor do I play an instrument anymore. I did when I was in school. But I use music in my classroom almost every single day for a purpose AND because I just like music and so do my students! Touching the instruments and hearing the sound was fascinating to me! I enjoyed this lesson very much!
  • 25. ry era Lit Literary intelligence is probably my third highest intelligence. Unfortunately I did not make it to the literary segment of this lesson. After trying for 2 weeks, I decided that it just wasn’t meant to be for now. I will keep trying.
  • 26. ical Mus This is the color I see when I am expected to do math! Math-UGH! This is my weakest intelligence. A + B equals nothing to me; they are the lst two letters in the alphabet. I do NOT do math; it’s exactly why I have a financial advisor!

  • 29. It made me quite sad to leave this Multiple Intelligence World. I thoroughly enjoyed the color and interactivity of it all- except, of course, the literary lesson, which I plan to return to soon!
  • 30. Another colorful lesson that I truly enjoyed studying because I AM a visual learner. Seeing the colors along with the elements of the Cognitive Process was delightful! Blo Tax om on ’s htt p:/ /slu rl.c Thursday Xu followed me to the lesson to ask if I om om /se needed any help. Little did she know that I understood con dlif y how to complete the lesson; it was staying logged on e/T ea that was the issue and with THAT I was sure she could chi ng %2 not help! I pulled up several notecards and studied 04/2 them. See one above that illustrates several different 22 /150 levels on one card. /25
  • 31. These two pictures show other notecards that I read; then the picture in the bottom right corner illustrates what my avatar did at will. She would begin walking, and I could not get her to stop. She walked right over the top of the lesson blocks. Although it is a pretty picture; it is not conducive to wandering through a SL world.

  • 33. Here you could pick your lesson that played on all three television sets mounted on the glass ceiling. I preferred the one about Maui and surfing hot spots. It talked about the best winter surfing location, Jaws, located on the north shore of Maui. The Pacific storms crated waves called swells in winter they move to Maui. Waves collide with the ocean floor and the reef and lava that together created a tongue that causes monster waves and swells. Steve Wells was the expert who spoke in the video as I watched in the background for a glimpse of my favorite island Maui.
  • 34. The Weather Channel presented Rapids in Idaho! Called the rapids “frozen liquid gold.”

  • 37. When I entered this world, there was a helper at the welcome sign. Below left, I studied the menu and decided to go toward the Center for Virtual Educators. EdTech Island http://slurl.com/secondlife/EdTech/129/128/24 On the way to the Center for Virtual Educators, I passed the Holodeck classroom, innovative teaching spaces (to the right). I tried to enter, but it was closed.
  • 38. Inside the Center... I visited Gaming in SL, Teen SL,Video Tutorials, Educational Technology, Tools for Teachers, and the last image is what happens to my screen when I can no longer see where my avatar is going or what’s in the room. I completed a survey that was created in Survey Guru in the Educational technologies booth and wandered from booth to booth reading and looking at available activities. Started Here
  • 39. On my way to the treehouse, I saw a cool memorial where you could get a flower and place it there. When I got to the treehouse, the stairway was quite challenging to go up so I decided it would be quicker to fly. When I got there, wowee! It was beautiful. I looked at the window where people were resting; I got me a chair in front of the fireplace and relaxed before going to look out the window with the flat screen television. Quite a view from the treehouse!!
  • 40. I decided to fly from treehouse for a bird’s eye view of EdTech Island
