 Background of the Rice Seed Industry in Nigeria:
 Nigeria, with its rich agricultural heritage, is a significant
player in the global rice market. Despite being a major rice
consumer, there is a considerable gap in the production and
supply of quality rice seeds, hindering optimal yield.
 Opportunity for Seed Production and Distribution:
 There is growing demand for high-quality, locally-adapted
rice seeds in Nigeria. This business opportunity to bridge the
gap by establishing a robust local seed production and
distribution network.
 Meeting this demand not only supports local farmers but also
contributes to national food security.
 Certified Rice Seed Varieties adopted.
 GAWAL R1,
▪ Outstanding Characteristics : High yielding, and tolerance to blast
disease. (10.4t/ha) is the top recommended variety followed by the
popular Faro44, and Faro 67 respectively.
 Faro 67
▪ Outstanding Characteristics : Submergence tolerant, high yielding,
long and slender grains and moderately tolerant to iron toxicity.
(6.7t/ha).
 Considering theTons/Per Ha. of the adopted seed
varieties , we are going straight to the business and give
you figures.
 Lets go…
 Cost of Production of Quality Rice Seeds:
 Cost of Irrigation of 1 Ha Rice Seed Farm is N1,400,00.00
 Cost of Rain Fed Cultivation of 1 Ha Rice Seed Farm is
N1,000,00.00
 Output
 Average Yield of Irrigated Seed per Ha is 7 Tons,
 Average Yield of Rain Fed Seed per Ha is 5.5 Tons.
 Cost of Rice Seed
 An Average of N 800 per KG of assorted Rice Seed.
 Therefore N4.4 Million to 5.6 Million is going to be realized as
gross income in half a Year.
 Profit/Loss after Paying your Self N1.2 Million
Naira per Annum and another N1 Million Naira
FOR Storage Rental and Payment of Sales
Manager,
 The Net Income will be between N3.4 Million to
N2.2 Million respectively’
 This makes the Business lucrative and can be run
in two circles per annum, i.e. both Dry and Rainy
Season since Rice takes 90 to 120 days for a
cultivation circle.
 This Rice Seed Production Business is viable,
worth doing and sustainable since the
demand of rice seed is ever increasing.
THANK YOU &
REMAIN BLESSED
 BACKGROUND OF THE RICE NIGERIA:
 Rice is one of the most consumed staples in Nigeria.
 In the past decade, consumption has increased 4.7%,
almost four times the global consumption growth, and
reached approximately 7 million tonnes in 2022 and rising.
 OPPORTUNITY FOR PRODUCTION
 There is growing demand for paddy as there is growing number
of Rice Mills in Nigeria.
 This business opportunity to bridge the gap by establishing a
supply chain to meet the high demand of paddy.
 Meeting this demand not only supports local farmers but also
contributes to national food security.
 RICE CULTIVATION OVERVIEW.
 Rice is cultivated differently than other grains because it is a semi-
aquatic plant that requires consistent water all season to grow.
 Most Productive SeedVariety include GAWAL R1, Faro 67,
FARo44 (SIPPI), etc.
 Rice Farming can be done Bi-annually,
▪ June to November (Rain Fed)
▪ January to May (Irrigation)
 Rice can be Planted orTransplanted .They all viable;
 Considering theTons/Per Ha. of the adopted seed varieties , we
are going straight to the business and give you figures.
 Lets go….
 Cost of Production of Rice Paddy Per Hectare:
 Cost of Irrigation of One Hectare Rice Paddy
 N800,00.00
 Cost of Rain Fed Cultivation of 1 Ha Rice Seed Farm is
N600,00.00
 Output
 Average Yield of Irrigated Paddy per Ha is 6 Tons,
 Average Yield of Rain Fed Seed per Ha is 5 Tons.
 Cost of Rice Seed
 An Average of N 400 per Kilogram of Paddy
 Therefore, N2 Million to 2.4 Million is going to be realized
as gross income in one cropping cycle.
 Profit/Loss after Paying your Self N600,000.00 per
Annum and another N100,000,00 for short-time
storage rental and payment of security,
 The Net Income will be between N1.7 Million to
N1.3 Million in one Cropping Circle.
 This makes the Business lucrative and can be run
in two circles per annum, i.e. both Dry and Rainy
Season since improved Rice takes 90 to 120 days
for a Cropping Circle.
 THIS RICE PADDY PRODUCTION
BUSINESS IS PROFITABLE AND
SUSTAINABLE
THANK YOU
 BACKGROUND OF THE RICE NIGERIA:
 Rice is one of the most consumed staples in Nigeria.
 In the past decade, consumption has increased 4.7%,
almost four times the global consumption growth, and
reached approximately 7 million tonnes in 2022 and rising.
 OPPORTUNITY FOR RICE PROCESSING
 There is a huge gap between the Quantity Demanded and
Available Head Rice in Nigeria.
 As a Result Heavy Importation of Rice is still on going despite
the Boost in local paddy production and establishment of many
rice mills.
 This is a sustainable and viable business Opportunity.
 Currently, the 100kg raw paddy rice sold is at N25,000 per
bag if passed through the process of milling will give 50kg
head rice and to be sold at N35000 bag.
 Thus the gross income of N10,000 per bag will be realized .
 After deducting the cost of Processing at N4,000 processing
fee/milling cost, the Profit per bag is N,6000,00.
 An Average of 10 Bags can be processed and sold per week
given the gross profit of N2,880,000..00 per annum.
 Less 10% Contingents and Transportation .
 The Net profit stood at N2,592,000.00 per Annum.
 The Processing is done at Established Rice Mills and sold
upfront.
 RICE PROCESSING ANDVALUE ADDITION
SERVICES BUSINESS IS PROFITABLE AND
SUSTAINABLE ESPECIALLY FOR RICE
FARMERS.
THANK YOU
 BACKGROUND OF VEGETABLE DRYING BUSINESS
 Vegetables and Fruits are Seasonal and Perishable.
 They remain fresh for only few days and got rotten.
 This vulnerability crashes their prices during Peak Harvesting
Season by up to 500%.
 A LUCRATIVE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY…
 The above factors has created an avenue for bulk purchase during
harvesting period and improvise to make profit.
 Despite many available ways of preserving fresh vegetables, the
cheapest and easiest one is dehydration (i.e. rapid removal of
moisture) either by direct sunlight drying or using dehydrators (Both
Electrical and Mechanical) to dehydrate (dry) the product, package it
and resell at a profit.
 Lets delve into Numbers….
 During Peak Harvesting Seasons, 100kg of Fresh Pepper,
Onions, Spices and other Vegetables are Sold at an average
of N5,000.
 After Drying Packaging, Storing, it can be sold during Off
Peak period at N15000.
 Therefore, there is gross revenue of N10,000 per bag .
 An Average of 250 Bags can be dried and packaged per
season, twice per annum totaling 500 bags.
 Less 50% of the revenue for cost of Transportation, labor and
packaging.
 The Total Income is (N10,000 X 500) divided by 50%.
 The Net profit stood at N2,500,000.00 per Annum.
 This is a good business, right?
CONSIDERINGTHE MARKET OF PEPPER,
SPICES AND OTHER VEGETABLES IN
NIGERIA,THIS IS WORTHTRYING AND
HAS A MINIMAL RISK.
THANK YOU
 BACKGROUND
 Cattle fattening is a livestock production practice that
involves reducing the animal activity and feeding of
with a protein balanced, high-energy diet for a period
of 45 to 90 days.
 The selection of the cattle is based on evaluating the
potential for fattening of different types of cattle in
relation to the market price of beef. Factors to consider
include breed of cattle, type and age.
 Now lets Evaluate the Opportunities
 An Average Bull of N200,000 properly inoculated,
vaccinated, and fattened for 45 to 90 days depending on
the feed and other factors will be sold at approximately
N400,000.
 A 2000sqm land can accommodate up to 10 Bulls with
adequate ventilation, an Office and a store.
 10 Bulls will cost 2 Million Naira,
 The cost of feed, vaccines and Salary of Security/
Manager an other essentials will gulp N500,000.
 The Total will be N2,5 Million.
 Total Revenue stood at 4 Million Naira,
 There will be 3 cycles of fattening per annum.
 Now Lets do the Maths on the Next Slide
 Gross Profit per Cycle is N 1.5 Million
 Gross Profit per annum will therefore be N4,5 Million
 Less 10% provision for Market fluctuations and
uncertainties.
 Pay yourself N 1,2 Million Naira per annum.
 Pay N250,000 rent of facility per annum
 The Net Profit per Annum will be:
 N4,500.000 – 450,000 – 1,200,000 – 250,000
 Equal to 2.6 Million Naira.
 Interestingly, The Annual Profit will create another
Cluster again next year after all deductions.
THIS IS A GREAT BUSINESSTOTRY
WHAT DOYOUTHINK?
Good Luck
OVERVIEW
 Sheep farming, often known as animal husbandry,
 It is the practices of "nurturing sheep for commercial
purposes."
 In Nigeria today sheep farming is becoming a more
important agricultural enterprise and an alternative
source of income.
 Sheep farming can be floated as a second source of
income because It is less tedious as long as you hire a
committed manager.
 Now lets look into it.
 A smaller sheep can be obtained at N 20,000.
 N5,000 is set aside as cost of Inoculation, de-worming,
vaccination, vitamins and supplements.
 N10,000 for Animal feed for 60 to 90 days depending on
the ram size and season
 N50,000 as Managers Salary and Sanitation Cost per
cycle (Since it is a Part time Job)
 An Average well fed ram can be sold at approximately
N70,000.
 A 2000sqm land can accommodate up to 25 Rams with
adequate ventilation, an Office and a store.
 Now Lets do the Financial Analysis
 25 Rams will cost N500,000.00,
 The cost of feed, vaccines and Salary of Security/ Manager an
other essentials will gulp N425,000.
 The Total investment is N N925,000 per cluster
 Total Revenue after sales is N 1,750,000.00
 There will be 3 cycles of fattening per annum.
 Gross Profit per Cycle is N 825,000.00
 Gross Profit per annum will therefore be N2,475,000
 Less 10% provision for Market fluctuations and uncertainties.
 Pay N200,000 rent of facility per annum
 The Net Profit per Annum will be:
 N2,475,000 – 200,000 – 247,500 = N2,027,500.00.
 Interestingly, The Annual Profit will create another 2 Clusters!
THIS IS SOMETHING BIG AS A SECOND
