A Slaughterhouse or an Abattoir is a place
where animals are killed and processed for
Human consumption.
At large scale facilities, Slaughtering is
carried out in fully mechanized lines.
About 45-50% of the animal can be turned
into edible products.
Statistics:
 India is the richest country in the world in livestock wealth.
 Total availability of offal/bones in the country is estimated
to be 21lakh tones/annum.
 Asia with 50.4% is the largest producer of edible by-
products from pigs, while Europe produce 37.1%.
