My career goal is to assist a non-profit organisation to expand its services and reach globally. I want to
help NPOs to achieve a suitable balance between the competing goals of maintaining solvency (with
sufficient funds for activities) and social efficacy. I believe that working for a management consulting
agency specialising in non-governmental organisations will allow me to attain my goal.
At undergraduate school, I read sociology to study more about human nature, organisation and drives. For
my graduation thesis, I researched non-profit organisations, particularly in China in terms of structural and
legal problems, and the future of non-profit organisations.
While I was at high school and university, I was very involved in activities ranging from local to global.
From the first year, I worked for a variety of non-profit organisations as a counsellor at City Hall.
After graduating, I chose to work for a consulting company to gain consulting skills. I gained great
experience in analytical skills such as marketing research, data analysis, and personnel evaluation.
I was involved with many practical activities related to establishing new organisations, helped to plan
charity events, and spoke on a lecture circuit about many themes of non-profit sectors. Besides these local
activities, I also participated in many worldwide conferences such as the 1st International Youth
Conference in Kenya, held by the World Youth Alliance during my stay in London. During the past ten
years I have been engaged in many NPO activities, encountered more than 200 organisations all around
the world, and gradually become intrigued by not only the practical activities but also the management
aspects of organisations. The question: what is the best way for these organisations to be managed from
the viewpoint of commitment to their mission and how to balance profitability and sociality?
I wish to live and study in Britain to experience a liberal culture that exposes me to new ideas and
perspectives, this will help me to develop a global outlook.
To achieve my objective, it is imperative for me to gain a sophisticated and wide knowledge of all aspects
of business and particularly management. Thus, the postgraduate Business and Management programme at
your university is the best course for me because this course will not only allow me to obtain essential
skills like specialised management and marketing research but also help to hone my logical abilities and
inspire me to visionary ideas for the coming future.
