Wikileaks was founded in 2006 by Julian Assange to publish submissions of private, secret, and classified media from anonymous news sources and whistleblowers. It aims to expose censorship and advance free speech, but has faced constant attacks from governments and organizations who see it as a threat. Wikileaks uses military-grade encryption to protect anonymous sources and their submissions, making the organization very difficult to stop. Recent leaks about Hillary Clinton have shown that Wikileaks continues to operate and reveal insider information to the public.
Wikileaks is an international non-profit organization that publishes secret information from anonymous sources to expose illegal or unethical activities. It is led by Julian Assange, an Australian computer programmer who seeks to open governments and has gained notoriety for leaks like the Collateral Murder video showing a US air strike in Baghdad. Some of Wikileaks' most high-profile releases include documents exposing illegal activities at a Swiss bank, the US military's footage of an air strike in Baghdad that killed civilians, secret files about prisoners at Guantanamo Bay detailing torture, and emails from Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.
WikiLeaks is an international organization that publishes leaked documents, founded in 2006. It is run by Julian Assange and aims to ensure whistleblowers are not prosecuted for sharing sensitive information. WikiLeaks analyzes submissions before release and has published numerous leaks over the years, including the Collateral Murder video, Afghan and Iraq war logs, and US diplomatic cables. It has faced criticism and attempts to shut it down through denial of service attacks and cutting of funding sources, but continues operating through decentralized hosting and anonymous donations.
WikiLeaks claims to specialize in publishing censored government materials about war, spying, and corruption, but its authenticity and the agenda of its founder Julian Assange are contested. Some see Assange as pursuing a personal vendetta rather than transparency. WikiLeaks has published materials from Guantanamo Bay, the Afghan war, and emails from the DNC and John Podesta, which revealed insider information and tactics, but critics argue WikiLeaks and Assange are not truly dedicated to radical transparency and have their own aims. The authenticity and truthfulness of WikiLeaks' information is important because it shapes public opinion on important issues, so if WikiLeaks manipulates information it could easily influence consensus.

The Iraqi National Congress (INC), an Iraqi exile group, provided exaggerated and fabricated intelligence on Iraq's weapons programs and ties to al-Qaeda to U.S. officials and major news media in the lead up to the Iraq war. This false information helped foster the impression that there were multiple sources confirming the threat from Iraq. In reality, the allegations came from just a few Iraqi defectors and were disputed by intelligence professionals. Many of the claims made by the defectors have not been substantiated since the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime. The INC played a key role in spreading false information that contributed to the public and political support for the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
The document discusses terrorism and 9/11, providing background on the war in Afghanistan and Al Qaeda. It then discusses the 9/11 attacks in detail, including how hijackers flew planes into the World Trade Center towers. It also discusses Osama Bin Laden claiming responsibility and his background. Further sections discuss the impact of terrorism on Americans abroad like Daniel Pearl, as well as terrorist attacks in other countries like England, Russia, and Kuwait. It concludes by discussing the US tactic of waterboarding to interrogate terrorism suspects.
The document provides an overview of several pro-ISIS hacking groups that have emerged since 2014, including the Cyber Caliphate, Islamic State Hacking Division, Islamic Cyber Army, and United Cyber Caliphate. It describes their origins, claimed attacks and targets. While the groups showed some coordination, their capabilities appear unsophisticated, typically targeting low-hanging fruit through methods like website defacements and data dumps of publicly available information. The leadership and membership of the groups was also fluid over time.

It details WikiLeaks' history starting in 2006 and some of its major leaks, including U.S. diplomatic cables and a video of a U.S. helicopter attack in Baghdad. The document also discusses WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and the legal issues and threats he is facing from governments.
This document summarizes recent headlines related to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and the information obtained through those requests. It discusses emails obtained through FOIA that provide insight into interactions between lobbyists and government agencies regarding financial reform legislation. It also discusses documents obtained by FOIA related to the film Zero Dark Thirty and administration assistance with that film. Finally, it notes a FOIA request that found an instance of a New York Times reporter providing a columnist's work to a CIA spokesperson before publication.
Anonymous is a decentralized hacktivist group known for high-profile cyberattacks. The document discusses Anonymous' history dating back to 2003 on 4chan and examines some of their major operations. It considers whether Anonymous should be viewed as cyber terrorists or freedom fighters, providing examples of attacks on groups like Scientology, Westboro Baptist Church, and child pornography sites in support of both perspectives. The document does not make a clear determination and acknowledges it is difficult to judge the rightness or wrongness of Anonymous' actions.

Israel applied game theory to provoke the 1986 US bombing of Libya
“The potential use of game theory to provoke the U.S. invasion of Iraq dates from an earlier staged incident when Tel Aviv displayed its expertise in deceiving the U.S. to deploy its military in the region. As with the war in Iraq, that incident involved a provocation that induced the U.S. to rely on intelligence fixed around a predetermined goal.
The pre-staging: in February 1986, the Mossad launched Operation Trojan, a broadcasting operation in Tripoli meant [page 3] to make it appear that the Libyan leadership was transmitting terrorist instructions to their embassies worldwide.
The orchestration: though the Israeli transmissions failed to deceive Spanish or French intelligence, U.S. intelligence was reassured when a trusted ally (Israel) confirmed the messages were legitimate. With Mossad operatives tied into terrorist cells throughout Europe, it was only a matter of time before an American would become a victim.

Not to be confused with SETI, SETI Institute, or SITE Intelligence Group.
The Search for International Terrorist Entities (SITE) Institute was an organization that tracked the
online activity of terrorist organizations.[1] The SITE Institute was founded in 2002 by Rita Katz and
Josh Devon, who had left the Investigative Project, a private Islamist-terrorist tracking group.[2] In
early 2008 it ceased its operations, and some of its staff formed the SITE Intelligence Group, a for-
profit entity, to continue some of its activities.[3]

July 4, 2007: A video by Ayman al-Zawahiri was obtained by SITE ahead of its release on the internet
by militant web sites.[4][5] The video had been provided by al-Qaeda's As-Sahab Media to
IntelCenter.[6]
Sept. 7, 2007: SITE obtained a 30-minute video of Osama bin Laden and provided it to Associated
Press. Bin Laden's image is "frozen" for all but 3½ minutes of the tape.[7] SITE beat al-Qaeda by
nearly a full day with the release of the video.[8] The US government later pronounced the video
authentic.
May 3, 2011: The organization translated a lengthy statement signed by al-Qaeda's General
Command that confirmed the death of Osama bin Laden and promised retaliation.[9]
Controversies
"Federal agencies, including the National Security Agency, the F.B.I. and the Department of
Homeland Security, monitor suspected terror sites on the Internet and sometimes track users.
Private groups like Ms. Katz's Search for International Terrorist Entities Institute and The Middle
East Media Research Institute are also keeping track of the ever-changing content of these sites. Ms.
Katz's institute, which relies on government contracts and corporate clients, may be the most
influential of those groups, and she is among the most controversial of the cyberspace monitors.

On 30 May 2008, The Daily Telegraph published an online article reporting that SITE had wrongly
identified footage from the post-apocalyptic computer game Fallout 3 as being created by terrorists
considering a nuclear attack against the West. According to the article, SITE found the Fallout 3
images in a video called Nuclear Jihad: The Ultimate Terror, posted on two possibly al-Qaeda
affiliated and password protected websites, where it also gleaned chat logs from users discussing
nuclear attacks on the West.[11] SITE released a statement to clarify its position, stating that it
never claimed the images were produced by terrorists, although it didn't admit to knowing from the
start that they were video game images.[12]The Daily Telegraph subsequently removed the article
from its website.
