ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
• Formed in 1941 in the US as part of WW2 war effort.
• Originally SIR (Society of Industrial Realtors), this group of industrial brokers proved to be an effective network for US
government to source manufacturing plants, warehouses and sites across the country.
• SIOR, for over 77 years, has become a global organization led by industrial and office brokers with 3100+ members.

Manager of Admissions reviews application for any missing information
Chapter Admissions Chair has 30 days to conduct an interview
Application is announced to Chapter for a 10 business day comment period
Application is reviewed by Chapter Admissions Chair

Approval, or Approval Pending Education and/or Ethics Course
Endorsement forms are sent to applicant 10 business days after Chapter Announcement (60 days to submit)

7. SIOR EDUCATION
OVERVIEW
Applicants have two options
to obtain requisite educational
component of their application:
1. Enroll in SIOR Education
courses which are held several
times per year in North
America. The 2017 cost is up to
$1750* (USD); or
2. Complete a comprehensive
membership entrance exam
in a sanctioned venue in your
home city and an online ethics
course.
*Final elective is an online Finance
course ($350 USD)
EXEMPTIONS
1. If the Applicant has more
than ten years experience and
double the GFI requirement
in the area, the educational
component is waived, but the
Applicant must still complete
an online ethics course.
2. If the Applicant has more than
fifteen years experience and
double the GFI requirement
in the area, the educational
component is waived, but the
Applicant must still complete
an online ethics course.
COURSES
Applicants complete three (3) mandatory courses:
• Ethics & Professional Standards
• Construction & Development
• Understanding the Lease Agreement
Applicants complete a minimum of three (3) of the following
six (6) elective courses:
• Advanced Sales Skills
• Build-to-Suit Development
• Consolidating a Business Strategy
• Introduction to Real Estate Investment and Finance
(Online)
• Negotiation Skills
• Tenant and Landlord Representation
Alternative ways to earn elective course credit:
• CCIM Designation – three (3) elective courses, fulfills
elective requirement
• CCIM Courses: 101, 102, 103, or 104 - one (1) elective
course each, for a maximum of two (2) elective courses
• Graduate Degree in Real Estate, Business or Law from an
accredited college or university – two (2) elective courses
• CPM Designation – two (2) elective courses
• RPA Designation – two (2) elective courses
• FRI Designation – two (2) elective courses
