1. Fall, 2007
Dear Colleague,
We want to take a few minutes to personally thank you for your past and continued
participation in the Asthma in the Young Child (AIYC) workshop. As an integral part of the
AIYC program, we are happy to fulfill your request for our new 2007 slide-kit. We believe this
updated kit is a comprehensive and exciting program illustrating the difficulty and importance
of the early diagnosis of asthma in young children. The kit now includes data from some
important recent studies to assist in your treatment decisions. We are pleased to provide it
based on the need for up-to-date information regarding emerging treatment strategies in young
asthmatics. The second section of the kit describes principles of small group learning, the role
of the doctor as facilitator, some common problems you may encounter during these
interactions, and provides guidance on how to deal with these challenges.
We hope that this program offers you the preparation necessary to facilitate small group
discussions on this important topic. Further cases can be developed by you and your colleagues
to meet local needs. Your assistance is instrumental in bringing this knowledge to our
colleagues and the community. We hope that the material will be helpful and that you
and your colleagues enjoy this aproach to continuing education.
