The show has aired for over 30 seasons since 1989, making it the longest running American scripted primetime TV series. It focuses on Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson and draws comedy from parodying American culture and society through their stories and adventures.

4. The Structure
The Simpsons had first been shown in 1987 on the Tracey Ullman show after a further
three seasons went on the show was developed into a half a hour prime time TV show,
then it had landed on fox’s TV network becoming the networks first show to land in the
top 30 ratings in a season years 1989-1990 . Since its debut on December 17 1989 the
TV sitcom has had 489 episodes and 23 seasons the latest season started airing
September 25th 2011 it had beaten ‘Gunsmoke’ as the longest American prime time
scripted television series. The biggest venture from Matt Groenings team was the
feature length Simpsons film which grossed 527 million. The show itself starts with the
four main characters Homer, Bart, Lisa and Maggie all rushing to get home to the TV
set while credits are rolling and all sit at the TV set to view the show coming on which
depicts almost what the viewer at home is doing, then goes on into the show however
this show is not a cliff hanger so therefore the viewer experiences a different drama
every episode

5. Language Style
The language style of the show is very
informal from one of Bart's infamous
lines ‘eat my shorts’ this depicts the
whole language style of this sitcom. The
language used is non explicit due to it
coming on post water shed however
there comedy used is slapstick, satire and
parody usually picking up and exploiting
current affairs worldwide.
