This document discusses six simple machines: gears, pulleys, wheels and axles, inclined planes, levers, and wedges. Gears help speed up or slow down movement and are found in clocks and cars. Pulleys make lifting heavy objects easier. Wheels and axles allow for transportation in vehicles and of heavy loads. Inclined planes in the form of ramps provide assistance and are found in parks, schools, and on roads. Levers use a fulcrum to help lift heavy loads with less force. Wedges can split wood, prevent doors from slamming, nail items together, and sharpen pencils.
