 A former Port of Seattle Police Department sergeant, Jon Schorsch still
maintains close ties to the department. He recently earned a juris doctor at
the Seattle University School of Law. A person living with blindness, Jon
Schorsch is an active supporter of community organizations such as Sight
Connection.
Supporting Seattle-area residents who have low vision and vision loss as they
build full and independent lives, Sight Connection recently added a low-
vision optometrist to its team. Among other duties, this new staff member
works to facilitate patients’ use of innovative adaptive devices in conjunction
with the team’s low-vision therapist.
White canes, high-powered reading glasses, and magnifying glasses are
among the adaptive aids available to community members through Sight
Connection. Hobbyists with low vision can obtain prisms, monocular
telescopes, large-print editions of playing cards, and other items. People
outside the Seattle area can access these and other products to enhance
independent living at SightConnection.org.
